Ridiculous Travelodge policy.... 12:09 - Sep 29 with 2691 views | itfcjoe | Had a room booked for one of the blokes who works for me for Sunday-Thursday for about £400, he then told me he only needed Monday-Thursday so went on, amended the booking, was charged a £12.50 admin fee and the new cost was about £300.... Didn't get the credit through, so chased them up - they have said as room was booked on a Saver rate it is totally non refundable and the system just creates a credit note......annoying but is what it is. But for the privilege of giving them their room back for the night to resell, as opposed to me just leaving it empty, I have to pay a £12.50 admin fee....! Obviously only a few quid, and nothing I'll lose sleep over but what an absolutely crazy policy - by all means make the bookings not flexible, but to charge when the customer is actually doing you a favour and helping out.....

Same as £50 admin fee to change your address with an insurance company, it’s just editing a few things ffs.

Innit. Sold a car a few years ago, had paid the insurance for the year that had about 3 months left to run so I thought 'ooh lovely I'll call up and get that cancelled and some money back'. Of course there was a £60 'admin fee' to do so, got about a tenner back.

I see your 'insurance admin charges' and raise you 'leasehold property management companies'. An utter scandal. I would compare it to money for old rope, but at least in that scenario you get some old rope!!
Ridiculous Travelodge policy.... on 13:50 - Sep 29 with 2071 views | Daninthecampo | Our friends were meant to fly to us on the 10th with BA but got stuck in that massive M23 closure so missed the flight. They called BA to try and find another flight that day, only to be told if you missed the outbound they automatically cancel the return journey, they were separate flights( so no special deals) but just done together on the same booking. So they're only eligible for a £24 airport tax refund on a £600 flights and had to rebook a new return journey with another airline! Holiday insurance won't cover them because they weren't in a crash!

I can understand admin fees to an extent as they need to pay someone to make the changes, so there is a cost incurred, albeit they're often extortionate One thing I can't stand is booking fees on gigs, events etc. Completely unnecessary. Just include it in the price if you need to so at least the full cost is transparent!

Why am I paying £1.75 to get £20 of my money out? What sort of scam is this and who’s getting my £1.75. Utterly disgraceful. I refuse to pay it and will rather walk for half an hour finding a free one or a post office than be part of such a scam.

It just makes me take more out even though I don't need it. I'm not paying a 17.5% fee on a tenner, I'll take 200 notes and feel like I've got a good deal with my <1% fee. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ridiculous Travelodge policy.... on 17:42 - Sep 29 with 1381 views | carlo88 | Don't know what's happened to Travelodge. Used to use them a lot as you could get very cheap rooms (£29 upwards) if you booked early enough, and a reliable sort of 'good enough' quality room and service. Now their rooms seem to average around £100 a night, sometimes well over that and they are a complete rip-off. I now use booking.com and get a nice b & b somewhere, usually a self-contained annexe or converted garage etc. with far more facilities than Travelodge could dream of. And no thumping footsteps outside/overhead all night either.

Parking and private parking companies are what gets my boat. I was paying €2 a day in some places on holiday in Spain this year. Back in the ‘old day’, some councils would offer very cheap or free parking to encourage people into town centres. Now it’s all private companies and looking to screw as much as possible out of people. Swansea went through a spell of double yellowing street parking spots to force more people into their car parks. Barstewards.

They are cashpoints run by private companies instead of banks. So they make a profit. Its the only way you get them in some odd spots.

Is it just editing though? Son they hBe to rerun the risk analysis on the new postcode? Id you're taking car insurance pretty sure if you moved to a more dodgy area then they would not only charge the fee but would probably increase your premiums

The event I was going to added some extra activity for the Friday so I needed to change the flight time. I had the option to cancel but for some reason this doesn’t include the £49 admin fee. The flight was £51!

So much easier to keep on top of your unnecessary spending using cash, far too easy to just keep swiping your card without realising how much you're actually spending. Also, as someone who has been on the bones of their arse financially in the past I like having a few notes in my pocket.
