New deal for Tayls (n/t) on 12:10 - Oct 10 with 2186 views | tonybied | Quite surprised by that tbh. I imagine, it might be just to keep some value in him. I know he's only an injury away from getting some game time, but I expected we would be looking at someone with a bit more quality next year.

looks like it falls into the woolf category, bit of a reward for the player, protection for the club from losing him on a free. just hope we don't get another "politics" interview in a few months!

New deal for Tayls (n/t) on 12:18 - Oct 10 with 2058 views | WolfieAtTheBack | Given the amount of games still to come including cup games he is likely to get minutes at some point. I am not a huge admirer but he is a very solid squad player.

plus, if we don't go up this year, he's exactly the sort of player we'd be looking at in the final year of parachute payments

It's a win win all round. When we go up this season then he is a salable (is that a word) premier league asset again under contract. Another Mark Ashton masterclass, imagine Evans working his nut round this one...

I think we do have more than one game between now and the end of the season.

"cup games". My apologies

Someone every squad needs. Different to everything we’ve got and will absolutely win points for us this season - just like he did last year. Good on him.

Not out of choice I would suggest - injuries and playing time concerns over Phillips and Cajuste no doubt increased the need for his playing time. I imagine he had played more 1st team minutes at this stage last season than he has this season - we've dropped a division but I think we actually have a stronger set of central midfielders.

Shoutout to JT for Wolves away, but that is probably a good indication of why we performed the way we did.

New deal for Tayls (n/t) on 13:18 - Oct 10 with 1345 views | Everydayblue | His squad role at the club is very underestimated by some people... Good attitude, low maintenance. And accepting of a squad role. Clearly appreciated by The Manager. For his overall involvement around the club. He may not be prime Pirlo.. But he's "our" Jack Taylor. Well deserved new contract.

Plus, at twenty seven, there is still some development potential (granted not as much for a midfielder as for a central defender or goalkeeper.) He has the new influences of Matusiwa and Núñez to add to his game, another year with Cajuste and, dare I say it, a bit of fresh air from the absence of Morsy and Luongo. McKenna will select his squad as appropriate for the opposition as well as seeking a balanced and settled side so I can see games where Taylor is the best shout.

Agree, as others have said its win win really. Good security for him to get another 2 years on what is probably the most lucrative package of his career thus far (and might be again), it keeps him engaged and committed for the season when he might otherwise be planning beyond the summer from early next year, and it leaves the cards with the club in terms of his value if we do decide to sell him in the summer. I can't imagine his wage is so big that its prohibitive to moving him on if we decide to. Makes sense all round.

Agreed. If he goes, we'd have to replacement and we'd struggle to find someone similar, I think. Good sense all round and pleased to see it!

New deal for Tayls (n/t) on 19:02 - Oct 10 with 508 views | BouncebackIpswich | Good for him, always comes on and gives his all and quite possibly our most physical midfielder in terms of energy and running, if not technically up to the standard of the others, he's a bit underappreciated I feel.

I hardly think extending a fringe player's contract is a "masterclass"!
