Vs Sweden tonight. What has happened to him since going out on loan?! A man reborn.

Makes you wonder why he couldn’t make the cut here

Maybe he's just found a bit of confidence, after a shaky start at Town last season.

Manager probably not expecting him to play tippy tappy at the back against prem quality players or midfielders who at that level are able to drop for the ball better

and probably didn't get booed when coming on during a pre season friendly

But must say, i never saw him smile in any town training videos, yet he's had lots of smiles since moving, maybe he just didnt like suffolk life, it's not for everyone

I don't think it's confidence in his own ability as such, but confidence in dealing with specific instructions and being able to retain a bit of autonomy in his decision making.

As Frimmers says, he never used to smile when he played here (so important), he always seemed tense and not communicating with, or enjoying moments in the game with, his back four.

I guess he's the sort of player who needs to be able to play how he sees it and just isn't suited to playing the structured anti-press game we play, which is a shame because he actually has the skills to do it, and is a very, very good keeper in general terms.

He isn't being slated every week probably helps.

Always a quality keeper in there. He is still young though so there will be more mistakes. That just needs to be accepted. I don't see him playing for us again but would be all for it if he did.

Indeed. Reminds me very much of Sereni who was also an excellent goalkeeper who it never really worked out for here. He made a couple of bad mistakes that he often gets remembered for and made a poor judgment call when he asked to be rested for a cup match.

Maybe he was never the right type of keeper for the style that we are playing but then I don't see us having found a keeper that fits it any better.

I would be delighted if we could bring him back into the club and reintegrate him into the team. Unfortunately, too many numpties seem to, pretty much, blame him for our poor season last year. I'm not saying he didn't add to our troubles last season by losing his head at times, but...we were not good enough as a collective. There were way too many silly mistakes from most players, and to place so much blame on Muric is just wrong, in my eyes, at least. The treatment he was given by some of our 'supporters' was nothing short of disgusting, and I wouldn't blame him if he never wanted to step on the pitch for us again.

Sadly he’s finished here. Done. The hate brigade would be after him the moment his name was announced. Bit like before a pre-season friendly. No, he’s better off away from that and at a club where he’s appreciated.

Listened to Blue Monday yesterday and they all thought he was done here and that good performances in Italy and for his country can only be good for him, his club and potentially ourselves in that we might get a decent chunk of the transfer money back.

Fair comment and I hope it pans out that way.

Would be close to impossible to bring him back in - one mistake and the crowd would be an issue. It’s definitely best he moves on but we need to find a GK as a priority in the next couple of windows.

That says so much about a section of our fans, though. Too many are willing to throw a clearly talented footballer in the bin because he had a dodgy start to his career here! It just shows how entitled so many have become.

This may not be a major factor in future signings, but surely it won't help for fellow professionals to see how you'll get treated by fans if you don't hit the ground running at the club.

I really need to let this go, but as you can tell, I always though there was real talent within Muric. It just needed a gentle hand to coax it out. I believe he will go on to play as the number one for a top, top club, and one day, some on here will be questioning the club for letting him go, when they really should question themselves.

On the other hand, a couple of good matches and the previous stuff will largely fade into the past.

It's not like he was the only player who 'underperformed' and got stick from fans who didn't think he was good enough - see also Jaden and Clarke, both of whom have managed turn the narrative around. I guess with Muric it was just more visible and with instant punishment via goals conceded.

Not convinced. A goalkeeper mistake is typically fatal whereas Jack Clarke not impacting a game isn’t necessarily going to lead to a one off movement that fans perceive as being critical to the outcome.

Get a grip, he was terrible. Responsible for at least 8 points dropped before Xmas and you can see the defense had no confidence in him. Rushes of blood to the head, charging out of goal, shots going through him like water. He was hopeless and as thick as a plank too. Good riddance.

Quite simply because we didn't play him to his strengths. If it was a good passer, comfortable playing out from the back, then he was the wrong signing. He was a good shot stopper and had plenty of good performances for us too, which often get forgotten.

I did watch him v Inter Milan earlier in the season.

He made a world class save in the first half, which was remarkable, but also gave away the ball playing out from the back twice - he wasn't punished for it.

He walked away as the highest rated Sassuolo player, but his performance was very Aro Muric - sometimes incredible, sometimes not so.

He hasn't got defenders giving the ball away 5 yards from goal or being asked to take on and beat strikers rushing at him. He is also not facing 20 shots a game from inside the 18yard box. Quality keeper made a couple of errors regarding timing of coming out and let one soft shot in. The rest of the mistakes were understandable considering what he had been asked to do. He was our best keeper at shot stopping, catching crosses and commanding his box.

It goes both ways. I'm not convinced Muric had confidence in his defence either, at that time.

People (unfairly imo) focused on Muric for all of our defensive frailties in the PL. Yes, he made some blunders that gave goals away, but was also put under pressure by other defensive weaknesses. He also denied many certain goals.

I too see no way back for him, because of a vocal minority that will never give him as second chance. Palmer is not the answer for first choice 'keeper if we get promoted this season, but Muric with a solid defence ahead of him, might be outstanding.

It won't happen, so we'll end up spending a ludicrous amount of money on a 'keeper signing, that may not be any better than a revitalised Muric.

Being in the premier league against top quality opposition, his mistakes got well and truly punished, as well as a lot of coverage on the PL.

Serie A I suspect isn't quite so high profile and the teams aren't quite as ruthless. In the Spurs away game he was a main reason for the result so he can be very good.

His confidence (like a lot of the team) was shot by Christmas.

The point about catching crosses and commanding his box is an important one; we were very strong at defending corners and set pieces with him in the team, which has deteriorated since then. Some players make things look so easy (e.g. Muric claiming high balls into the box, or Burgess properly winning his headers) that it's very noticeable when their replacements aren't as comfortable.

Palmer's had a few errors of his own (remember him letting a back pass roll under his foot and having to scamper back and clear the ball off the goal line amongst others) but obviously less memorable as less costly when they dont't result in conceding a goal.

Real shame it didn't work out for Muric here last season, as he clearly has all the attributes to be a top keeper (and even most of those can have a big error in them now and again)
