Hope he's okay. I know he was error prone at times but he seemed a really decent bloke.

Good player and defender.

Good player? He was absolutely dreadful in every respect. Genuinely a low for the football club.

Yep, because now is the time to say that isn’t it.

We’ve had far worse players than him for the record - I assume you’ve only been following us for 5 or 6 years with a comment like that.

All the best Toto.

I’m really not sure we have had many much worse than him.

The fact he played a decent number of games for us is quite embarrassing.

I hope he’s okay mentally but as a footballer he was fooking dreadful.

Don't agree. We had far worse, less committed players during that low than Toto.

Cheap jibe and not even close to the truth.

He was a decent, if somewhat 'meat and potatoes' centre half for us in League One and came across as a good bloke.
I can't help but think you're possibly being a bit mean spirited here, good luck to the fella.

It's possible to be really sympathetic toward him and his current situation, hope for the best for him, and objectively state he was a dreadful footballer (which he was).

You don't play professional football as the level he has if you are 'dreadful'.

He was a good League 1 player. Like all players at that level he had weaknesses. His was rash decisions / giving pens away at times.

There have been many more players during the Evans period who were objectively worse.

He was pretty poor and it's fair to say that. Genuinely hope he is ok and seems a decent person, but as a player he was woeful for us

I can think of 5 or 6 clear players who were far worse in the final Jewell and Lambert days - Toto was far from the lowest point as a player, hence why he still made a career out of football and didn’t retire in his twenties like several of those I’m thinking of, but this isn’t the time and place for naming them really.

Still, as I said before, entirely besides the point. Be kind or be quiet.

Be kind or be quiet but the calling someone a "Dickhead" is fine and has 3 upvotes.

The amount of people that personally insult others on here but then pretend to be all high and mighty at the same time is often quite staggering (not saying to you of course).

It doesn't really need to be said that I am sure every town fan wishes him the best.

It's also possible to wish him the best without referring to his perceived ability which is irrelevant and completely without class by ANY of those who've done so.

I'm still genuinely annoyed about that red card he got against Wednesday, when Foresteri tripped over him about 20mins after Toto had played the ball.

TBF the comment was in response to someone calling him good, not just jumping on the thread randomly saying he is a terrible footballer in response to the story.

It was a reply to JD saying he is good (which was the first irrelevant comment on his perceived ability in relation to the story).

Thing is tho. He may not go down as one of towns best players.

However to play professional football at any level let alone league 1 and 22 games in the champ.. you've got to be a good footballer.

Obv if you're comparing him with others from the same level then its a different discussion about level comparison. But I'd say toto overall was a good footballer.

I very much doubt PrideOfTheEast is comparing him to non professional footballers.

Exactly. He has played the vast majority of his career at League 1 and 2 - I don’t think people realise the base level of talent you have to do that.

TBH though, talent shouldn’t matter here - someone is going through a very tough time, who also happened to represent our club. Two reasons to wish him nothing but positivity.

He’s a good footballer relative to the general population, he’s a very bad footballer relative to the population of people who have played for Ipswich. I would have him as the worst Ipswich player in my lifetime when considering the amount he played and the fee we paid against his quality and performances.

Goes without saying that we all wish him and his family well in whatever is going on and I hope he can get back to playing and a good mental space. Good on him for realising it was better to step away and hopefully he gets the help he needs.
