The rebirth of Jack Taylor tomorrow night... 21:06 - Oct 20 with 1963 viewsRIPbobby

I hope he proves a lot wrong on here tomorrow night. He is exactly what we needed in our midfield a lot of this season. Would love to see him in a 3 man midfield on Saturday too.

Tomorrow him and Nunez...

but Saturday id mix it right up. I'd have either Nunes or Cajuste just in front of the defence pinging the ball and both Taylor and Matisuwa with a free licence to run around and win the ball and put much more energy in the middle of the pitch. I think that would blow other teams out of the water. But on the same token I think Johnson is due a lot of minutes. Just not at right back.

He looked very up for it at Boro, so let’s hope so.

Exactly what we need? What is that?

He's ok. But tbh I'm still surprised he's still here.

I think he will fight for the team and use every bit of energy he has in him. I still think we are a bit lightweight in the middle of the park. Cajuste and Nunez are lovely footballers, but they are not the kind of players you need in a battle. Lots of teams are turning our matches into a battle and our quality is not beating opponents effort. JT has lots of effort and so does Azor next to him. Nunez or Cajuste will pick the balls up from the centre halfs and pick their passes. Got to be better than how we have played so far this season.

Much as I'd love him to prove doubters wrong, I think we will once again be disappointed. Every time he comes on the pitch im thinking, is this the game....but it rarely is. Fingers crossed for him though.

I’d actually like to see Cam Humphreys get a bit of game time, if we can get a decent lead. Neat and tidy, think he’d knit things together.

Mmmmmm……..hope you are right, fear you will be wrong. Makes too many mistakes in dangerous areas. Would love to see one of his long range efforts win us the game though!

I don't think many think he's a bad player. He's a bit of a victim of our success really. Never got an extended run and clearly not on the level of our other three CMs but by no means a bad player.

Truly impaired.

Have you not seen enough over the last 3 years to realise that we will NEVER deviate from McKenna’s formation and play 3 in midfield….?

As nice as it would be to vary the team based on the opposition - it won’t happen.

Yes I fear you are right. But we can dream.

First off, good lad, useful sub, can't fault his effort but he goes missing too much when he starts and has never 'bossed' a midfield. I really hope he does well too but fear we will be overrun as usual in centre midfield. That said if Hirst has his striking boots on or Azon can break his duck we might still be OK.

For every great ball Nunez plays he is dispossessed very easily often leading to an opposition chance.

I have to be honest our left hand side needs to be on fire tonight for us to get a decent win.

Charlton no mugs but we should have enough.

Putting Nunez or Cajuste a role immediately in front of the defence gives either guy defensive duties neither are up to. Really do not see that happening without Matisuwa to hold their hand

Jack Taylor’s level is low-mid Championship...if that’s what we aspire to be then sure, let’s keep playing him. KM sees him every day so maybe he sees something I’ve yet to see on the pitch, but frankly I think we should be aiming higher, even for our squad back ups.

Jack Taylor was suppose to play higher up the pitch but that never happened so here we are. if Jack played the advanced midfield role for a top league one club he would have a lovely old time.

Its not his ideal position but he will get game time this season and a decent few quid in his back pocket with the new contract. Fair play to him.

Nunez has played there before and would be more of a quarterback style midfielder than a defensive midfelder.

Taylor will give us legs at least, but we need the full backs and 10 to do better than they did Friday. Midfield suffered badly from the lack of options around them and poor decision making once we got the ball.

Finally someone can see football as I do. I do worry about some of our fans theory... Our players are paid more money so should be better or we will have too much.

Charlton will pack the midfield with young, fit people who will kick, harass and just try and stop us, then hit us on the break. We have a couple of classy midfielders that are not great in a battle. Stick Taylor in to mix it up for 70 minutes and then change it. Tonight will be tricky. But could easily be undone by 2 early goals. That is what we normally try, but it doesn't always work.

He had a great chance at the start of the season to stake his claim. The advantage he has over his midfielder competition is his shooting from range (Nunez might disagree) yet he seems reluctant to pull the trigger. 2 headers and 1 shot from the edge of the box late on against PNE ( edit: from his appearances this season) If he plays tonight I’d be delighted to see him shoot.

I don't rate him myself. He's had quite a few chances across two previous seasons, even if not quite an extended run. Yes there's been two vital winning goals v Wolves (one of which was a screamer) but that on it's own is not enough.

Would be glad to be proven wrong though and if he starts I'll be cheering him on same as the rest.
