| Dara O’Shea 10:21 - Oct 22 with 10746 views | The_Romford_Blue | The most overrated footballer in the history of this club. And that first goal was the single worst bit of defending I’ve ever seen in my life. Absolutely schoolboy stuff from supposedly an experienced international. His leadership or lack of is one of our fundamental problems as well | |

It’s about £30m difference…

Yeah It's a shame the 130 mill difference In other outfield players aren't doing the business that the 2023 players did as the backline wouldn't be getting the blame for results just like the poorness of many games of wolfy have been ignored as we got promoted so it never happened and he is now seen as prime maldini. Town score goals last night. We have a midfielder in front of osheas header and that 1st goal doesn't happen. Defending starts from the front.

He's travelling backwards. Eyes firmly on the ball. He heads it exactly how he can head it. The fault lies with young and the lack of midfield cover to clean up after the header. No chance of him heading that to young. The after bit tho is a mixed bag Cbs are taught to delay the runner and show them the outside. Again he got no cover. Easy for anyone to say go at him. But say he did and got beat and the player ran in free on goal he'd been moaned at for that too. [Post edited 22 Oct 2025 21:57]

Whereas O’Shea doesn’t cover himself in any glory - and made the original mistake - I think it’s unfair for some to single-handily bland him. The tracking back was abysmal and showed no desire at all. O’Shea isn’t even the most overrated player in the squad - theres at least two others who are far better candidates for that accolade.

| Dara O’Shea on 14:54 - Oct 22 by chantryblueboy | Think that’s why people rate O’Shea, the last ditch stuff, because it looks amazing when it comes off. I think it’s a sign of a crap defender if you have to do stuff like that often |
Yep. See Alex Bruce or Matthew Pennington to confirm that. Last ditch defending generally (not always) the product of bad positioning, ball watching or some other defensive lapse in the first place.

Young makes naff all attempt to help out once O'Shea squander possession. He jogs. He watches Carey drive at our defence, doesn't squeeze the space that O'Shea is trying to push him into. No midfielders killing themselves to get back in. Nunez tries but doesn't get there. Defensive we're poor but it's not just the four defenders. The press we used to have is now poor and lacks the coordination it had with Chaplin, Hutchinson, Morsy and Luongo and Hirst. Protection from midfield is almost exclusively from Matusiwa who was not there. Yep, O'Shea had a mare but we are defensively poorly set up as a team and McKenna needs to change that.

Hadn't noticed how pss poor davis's attempt was at getting back, a casual jog back... we've seen him put the afterburners on, had he tried, 100% he could have helped

Not having that. Others could do better but that goal is on O'Shea. Really poor clearing header then just stands off all the way to his own 6 yard box. Abysmal defending.

Disagree, collectively many reasons why it's not good the fact Nunez pretty much catches up with davis despite Davis having yards on him shows that Davis could have got alot closer to the attacker if he wanted too or even could have got back sooner for greaves to leave his man and that again then helps oshea. either way what's done is done, but collectively it was a sht show.
