Only thing that frustrates me with azon, is he throws himself on the floor a bit too easily, I’ve noticed we do try to win cheap fouls a lot this season, and it’s kind of backfiring, as we get nothing from the ref.
And also, if the ref doesn’t give it, just get back up and chase the ball .. no good whining about it. [Post edited 26 Oct 19:52]

A nothing answer from me really, in that Hirst absolutely is better when we don’t have the ball. His intelligent pressing is still very good, much better than azon,plus his link up play, despite being under par for him is still slightly better than azon. However, azon is definitely getting in better goal scoring opportunities, he just needs a goal. So my final answer is………I don’t frigging know!!! |  |

He will score with an instinctive shot, where he doesn't need to think about it, and the confidence will come flooding back. It nearly happened against Boro, but the defender stopped the ball with his hand (and got away with it). At the moment, nothing is coming off for him, which must be hugely frustrating for him, not helped by the reaction he received from some of the crowd during the last 2 games. | | | |

Something's not right with Hirst - completely out of form and confidence, the latter not helped by him getting the Muric treatment whereby every time he loses the ball or makes a mistake there are very pointed howls of frustration.
Think Azon needs a proper run out at some point, and it may well do Hirst some good to have a bit of pressure taken off him. |  |

Azon for me, Hirst will never be prolific but has always been good in his first touch and hold up play but for some reason that's gone this year.
Azons pace and movement seems to encourage more dangerous and quicker balls on the ground, Instead of punts and high balls to Hirst

Start with Hirst. He’s a good player who works hard but is out of form. The only way to change that is to play. Give him 60 mins. I’d also keep changes to starting line ups to a minimum. How on earth can players establish partnerships on the pitch with more than half the team being shuffled like cards in a pack every single game?
So play him. Hirst will also get less abuse away from home which can only help his confidence. |  | | |

Hirst. I don't see Azon see getting much change out of 2 fresh CBs so id stick with Hirst and hope Azon can make an impact of the bench.
It's a bloody difficult job stuck up there on your own.... especially when you're out of form. He can still do a job occupying the CBs for 60-70 mins. It's up to others around him to find the holes and create chances. | | | |

Hirst still does much that we used to like to the same standard as before, imo; he just receives little credit for that now because the forward line is altogether more wasteful and less productive. No doubt he's at the top for most chances missed, in his worst finishing spell in his time here, but I'd wager he was our least clinical starting forward in 23/24 too. He'll take one again soon.

If Hirst got back to doing what he did well in his last Championship season, and not trying to be Delap which it sometimes seems to look like, once he gets a goal or two from open play, will see a boost in his confidence. | | | |
