| Next Ipswich manager on 08:10 - Oct 29 by Churchman | Be funny if Manning came here, got us promoted and was a big success in the Premier. I think the Pinkun might just explode Seriously? The suggestions all look lame. The chap at QPR has done well as has Rohl at Weds with a nutjob as a boss. I’d prefer it not to be an all name no substance merchant like Gerrard. |
You just know that Gerrard will be high up on the media list, desperate to build a narrative of Steven Gerrard’s Ipswich Town vs Frank Lampard ‘s Coventry City… For what it’s worth I really hope McKenna stays here!

He's playing top flight football and in European competition which I actually fancy them to go deep in. Chelsea are ploughing money and resources in to that club and i'd not be shocked if he's part of some sort of succession plan for Chelsea.

I might be missing something, but is Carrick that good? Got boro out of trouble I. His first season but didn’t get them into the play offs in any full season after that. And that boro side are now absolutely flying with a new manager in charge

I like Carrick. Think he's an intelligent guy who sets his team out to play the right way. Lost a lot of goals after they got the playoffs and just didn't recover but I still rate him.

No idea if he’d be interested or if he wants to manage but for me Anthony Barry is the best fit

I know Kmac was of course but you cant punt after punt. Even O'Neil is not what I'd call proven. Ole, half decent job at United but can he cut it as this level? Not done much since. Carrick did well but Boro dropped off, hardly proven. Duff, successful in Ireland. Can he step up though. Not mentioned elsewhere but Robbie Keane - won the Israeli and Hungarian leagues. Same questions as Duff. Mousinio, battling to safety with Pompey is not the same as promotion push. Let's be honest most appointments are a punt to some extend even with "pedigree" but from the names mentioned so far no one jumps out as inspiring.

Proven quality, good man management, tough ask to drop given he was manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Risky and beyond difficult, but also exciting. Cesc Fabregas. This is my dream appointment, similar tactics, similar attitude etc. A 1% chance given what he's achieved already and where he is. Another huge one would be Edin Terzic, he's not been working for a while and 4231 advocate. However, another huge leap. When you look at what McKenna actually brings, it's really hard to find someone who is as committed to the overall management and building project that ITFC currently is, not just be a coach. No wonder he's highly sought after every time a position comes up.

Agree that any new appointment carries its risks and can be seen as a punt, look at Southampton, every championship club for the last couple of years has been talking about Will Still and wanted him to be their next manager, he might turn it around but appears to so far be a “punt” that has gone wrong for them.. If we do have to recruit again and again I stress McKenna hopefully will stay here, we have to avoid all people named Paul…sorry for any Paul’s on the board!

Liam would be great. Or Steve Cooper. We’ve missed some seriously elite ones recently.., who would have cost a lot less than McKenna - Ashton isn’t the man to make the decision either way. He’s been woeful in handling McKenna - let him speak to everyone, then fly the owners in to promise a salary to make Slot raise an eyebrow, and a spending pot to make any club blush: Hardly a strategy was it. ASHTON has to go if McKenna leaves, under any circumstance, 35 years of rank average mediocrity .., he clearly knows he’s not elite.., he literally just panics. It’s like Frank Spencer and David Brent had a live child. He needs more time to practise his ring walk with his boxing belts.., so put him in gardening leave and he can listen to Ed and pose around his living room pretending he’s a boxer. His ego has ruined a generational opportunity for our great club

Wrong forum. Also you appear to have spelt Knapper as Ashton and Manning as McKenna. Happy to have corrected you.

If we appoint Gary O'Neil I genuinely despair. The fraud's fraud.
