On what planet does Philo NOT start tomorrow.. 12:56 - Oct 31 with 2147 viewsWallingford_Boy

Our player of the season so far by a country mile, scores bangers for fun, nutmegs defenders, cuts inside and beats players with ease, he's on fire!!

Clarke is a super sub, keep it that way.

RIP Sir Bobby

He's not really done anything away from home. Tight pitch at QPR, think Clarke's ability to ghost past players in tight spaces will be useful tomorrow.

tbf no-one has done anything away from home.

Is the QPR pitch smaller than others? I mean I know its a small ground where the stands are close to the pitch, but is the actual pitch that tight?

Either way, Jaden isn't too bad in tight spaces either (see nutmeg last week whilst on byline).

He's not really done much away from home though, maybe it would work better with clarke away.

A flair player has a couple of great matches and a few very quiet ones and they are viewed as being on fire. A keeper makes some great saves, makes a couple of howlers due to the defenders in front of him, and he gets a lot of abuse.

Strange world.

He always looks like he will score a goal at home, but then looks like he'll never score a goal away from home. However that never stopped Counago, so I say he should be picked to start.

Philogene may be quiet at times, but that's often because he's got two or three defenders rushing to intercept or block him before he can do Philogene things. Clarke, coming on later, has the advantage that those defenders have by then been chasing around for a hour or more. He will inevitably get a bit more space.

Philogene drawing them in ought to leave space for our other attackers to take advantage. But they aren't getting much on target at the moment, so it doesn't work.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Surely that is consistent though - in both cases players are being judged for a few notable high/low lights…

I think the Loftus Road pitch always seems a lot smaller than most due to the close proximity of the stands to the pitch and the overall ‘tightness’ of it.

Not that you're getting carried away or anything.

He's had more games where he hasn't scored any bangers or really offered much, than games where he has.

It's certainly working well enough at the moment in terms of maximising Clarke's contributions. And when Philogene is on song, his tricks are a treat!

The way I see it, the flair players are a bit like One Day batsmen. You need each of them to chip in with a big score every now and then, but it's OK if they have a few quiet ones. Philogene and Clarke were both on the naughty step for not having contributed enough, not so long ago, but they have both done a lot to increase their stock with the fans. It's odd to have two such expensive flair players who in effect play the same position, especially when you then factor in Egeli on the right, with his record fee. But hey, Clarke is certainly a super sub, so if Kieran wants to keep the roles as they are, that's fine by me.

I don't think it's realistic to expect Philogene to do Philogene things every game. But we do need regular contributions ticking over frequently enough from our front 4. Personally I think the starters at 10 and to some extent 9 are the ones that need to contribute more, and on a more regular basis. Let's see what happens, but Nunez at 10 would be interesting, and I'd go with Azon up top, myself.

It may be that we're crossing our fingers hoping that Clarke is on the pitch when we win another penalty! And by the way, our (possibly legitimate) grumbles from last year of not winning enough penalties (or fouls generally) have very much subsided this year. I guess that's partly a function of having a decent amount of possession, and particularly in and around the box. Also maybe clumsier defenders in the champ. Anyway I digress...

Mars. Is it Mars? I’m going Mars. Is it actually Mars? Or maybe Jupiter. Guess Jupiter is more gassy , so more tricky to actually play football on. Suppose Pluto is the furthest away, so not sure he’d get there in time. Oh god, but is Pluto actually a planet? Wow, this is a tougher question than it initially looked.

I think opponents have sussed Philogrne's MO for the moment, and in that basis, I'd like to see Jack Clarke given a couple of starts. I think hes also better ( more effective off the ball).
