One of the things I love about this board is the level of self policing. And the latest update from the BTP on the perpetrators backs up why it's so important that we collectively call things out.

I’m assuming we had someone make an arse of themselves by jumping to conclusions?

Lots of scummy bastards all over twitter looking silly this morning. The fact we are worried about the race of who did something before the victims and heroes is depressing. The racists who constantly peddle this stuff really damage this country.

One moron raised their ugly head but was soon despatched.

Sounds like there were lots of heroes all round. Passengers saying one old boy took a stabbing to protect a young girl.

9/10 with life threatening injuries. Right after the Synagogue and Wayne Broadhurst murder. Zia Yusef is on LK's show this morning making political capital out of it already.

Just read your last sentance.

Reform are vile. There. I've said it.

There's probably a host of reasons why this would never work, and I apologise in advance as I don't really know alot about politics

but wouldn't it be better if the countrys 'king' decides who is in parliament and there are no other parties

No petty arguments, no ridiculous 'promises' just to try and get in power.

Everything about politics seems as fked as everything else and alot of the 'hate' being brewed in this country imo is because of parties trying to out the others.

Would a dictatorship led by the head of the family that gave £12m of tax payers money to silence a victim of sex trafficking be better than a democratically elected Reform govt

These really are desperate times!

Just watching police update on Beeb now. Perpetrators were 2 black British nationals. Not being treated as terrorism related.

Ironically, they don't need to be terrorists to inflict terror.

In other news, I caught trains to and from the game yesterday and nothing happened.

Of course, I am not trying to downplay the awfulness of what happened but the way the media and politician focus on crime does tend to distort things and frighten people.

It also causes a disconnect between people's perceptions of crime nationally and what they experience locally. And it fails to take into account the fact that rates of crime are much lower than they were 30 or 40 years ago.

To take an example, there was a caller on LBC earlier stating that all sorts of crime were out of control, and complaining that it took 8 minutes for the police to arrive at the scene, which is completely bonkers.

The problem though is that crime is a trigger issue, and many politicians play into this.

It took eight minutes for them to get to two knife wielding suspects on a fast moving train that was between stations...what exactly was the caller hoping for them to do?

Land on it's roof ffs? Think someone has been watching too many James Bond films.

I've spent my morning replying to the Likes of Rupert Lowe and Ant Middleton who all peaked too soon before the news broke that both suspects are British Nationals.

Ant Middleton is a particularly dangerous individual, he implied nowhere is safe, and encouraged people to 'Arm yourselves as legally as you can'

Is he the same Ant Middleton as the former SAS instructor who always advised trainees and wannabes that it was crucial to use caution and cool heads before deciding to engage? Before he got sacked for his personal conduct behind the cameras.

I think he means that they don't have to fit the current 'terrorist stereotype' they can be 'normal' British nationals and still terrorise people.

Thing is it took 8 minutes from the time of the first 999 call to the men being in custody. I am of course no expert but that sounds impressive to me. Well done to the police.

I am Huntingdon based and was returning from my parents in the fens. It was annoying the roads were closed. Obvious I soon realised my frustrations were of little consequence as clearly other people were having a much worse time of it.

Thing is albeit horrendous people need to not be scared to use public transport or be in public spaces. I did have the conversation with my wife saying it could easily have been us in the train. Doesn’t bear thinking about.

I do wonder if it was a potentially known act as 8 minutes is incredibly quick imo and I did hear on SN that they had trained last week on this sort of situation happening. So maybe they knew of the potential act but didnt know where?

no reason at all to doubt the police conclusion on this - they have decided quickly and made a clear statement so the evidence must be decisive. but if it isn't terrorism it's hard to understand. a psychotic incident involving two people seems unlikely - both are arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

No doubt a motive will be revealed at some point. Or, no motive at all will be apparent and it will be permanent residence in Broadmoor

quite. but it's the two attackers which seems very unusual outside of terrorism.
