Voting Labour, how's it working out for you? A reprise. 08:12 - Nov 19 with 5431 viewsBanksterDebtSlave

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/nov/19/keir-starmer-labour-leader

'Wilful detachment from so much of what defines politics explains the reliance on McSweeney, whose strength in opposition was controlling party machinery and deploying it with ruthless efficiency. But the methods that worked in the run-up to July 2024 are not relevant to the challenge of running a country. The government isn’t a giant constituency party to be captured by a well-organised clique, then purged of irksome, wrong-thinking members.'

I'm making a rare general comment to respond to this.

Labour, for reasons I'll never understand, are going all out to try and appeal to people who will never vote for them (even if historically that demographic may have), and in doing so are repelling the people who actually did vote for them.

It is beyond stupid.

Whoever is in charge of the strategy has lost the plot entirely

I still think their best hope for the next election is Reform unveiling their manifesto and the general public realising it's essentially Thacterism on steroids and it is soundly rejected with Farage banished (preferably into space with pals Elon and Tommy Ten Names)

Giving Labour a reduced or marginal majority. Boris returns from the dead and leads to Tories from a point when he thinks he might be able to win again.

Bring on Nigel

In the spirit of engaging rather than just mocking you, as your good friend GB suggested..

Benters,

Apart from the obvious appeal of demonising people who aren’t the same colour or nationality as you, what else is Nigel Farage and Reform promising that excites you so?

I’d say I’m genuinely interested in trying to understand your thinking, but that would be a big fat fib.

However, it’s a good opportunity for you explain your thinking, so that less-enlightened, narrow-minded folk like me don’t jump to the incorrect conclusion that you just don’t really understand what you’d be voting for….

Floor’s yours……

I personally wouldn't trust Nig and reform for a millisecond. But if the main parties fail to offer a better alternative then people are gonna vote reform.

They won't sort immigration obviously. Its the only card they have..

But will they hoover up enough votes from Labour and the tories to get into number 10?
In some areas the Greens and Lib Dems are still polling well.
I live in what was South Cambs. A tory stronghold for decades. A boundary change slightly changed the demographic but even so, the Lib Dems ousted the tories.
I don't think reform have a huge reach around here. I could always be proved wrong I suppose.
All this aside, I was really hoping to hear Benters thoughts as it was he who was keen to promote the benefits of farage and co without actually saying what those benefits might be.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

As far as I can tell, the benefits are mainly lots of soundbites along the same lines of the ones that won the Brexit referendum, removal of our human rights and dismantling of public services, especially the NHS. Oh, and of course, stopping the boats (whatever that really means in practice) because that is the biggest issue the country has faced for over a decade now.

I am sure Benters will tell us the more exciting benefits, though.
