| Farage’s press conference going well on 17:11 - Dec 4 with 1724 views | MattinLondon | To a certain extent hate preacher Farage is right in the sense that racism was a lot more prevalent back then, than what it is now. And his supporters won’t care at all, and will dismiss all allegations as ‘banter’ or ‘everyone told jokes like that back then’. But even in the 70s it was not acceptable to tell Jewish classmates that Hitler was right - Farage knows full well what he is, his supporters know what they are, but they will be totally unapologetic about it. I do wish however that the BBC, Sky and ITV concentrate more investigative work on hate preachers Farage voting record, his attendance as a MP as well as MEP - plus his income from Russian TV. The man is a self-serving Charlaton. But his supporters won’t care about his racist ‘banter’ because they find that humour funny. | | | |

That’s the worst bit about it isn’t it? Fascism, race hate and things which might land you in jail today, be given false equivalence with what we look back now at and cringe. Let alone the overt treachery and lies spouted by him and his scumbag followers. Any true patriot would want to stamp them out.

His supporters should care a bit more about how this is playing out. Much like Farage is finding out there are consequences for racist behaviour, surprisingly from questioning by the BBC who seem to have found a backbone, his supporters are slowly finding out that following in his footsteps has consequences for them too. Their councillors, most voted in during the last local elections in May, are dropping like flies with over 40 having left or been suspended. Now it’s the turn of Staffordshire CC leader Ian Cooper who’s the latest Reform public figure revealed to be a rancid racist. It’s a racist organisation, led by a racist (and a former Russian asset, with questions still to be answered by the remaining leadership) and populated by racists. Anyone who supports them is bound to open themselves up for accusations of approving of racism at best or of being a racist themselves.

But what do people look back and cringe at. I found It ain't half hot mum and Mind your language funny but Love thy neighbour was absolutely rubbish and pathetic with its use of the N word. It's not as black and white as it seems if you pardon the pun.

I don’t recall Bernard Manning hissing like a gas chamber to his Jewish classmates. This was a Prince Andrew interview level performance that should end any normal career | | | | Login to get fewer ads

So you understood there were lines not to be crossed? I think most of us did back then. Or in other words, Farage’s defence of ‘we were all massive racists back then’ does’t really wash. It’s a relief to see this gaining traction. I find it bizarre what cuts through and what doesn’t. The accusations of potentially being compromised by Russia didn’t cut through. His relentless attacks against the EU and NATO memberships that we benefited hugely from didn’t cut through. Yet when it comes to playground name calling, he’s finally facing questions. It’s one of the lesser accusations he should be facing (albeit not acceptable). It’s a bit like Johnson getting away with all sorts of hugely damaging and serious stuff, but the Downing Street parties ended up being his undoing.

Eh? No one is talking about the quality of the show. Even early OFAH has some very dodgy and forced race based jokes because that was the norm at the time. It doesn’t mean people don’t look back now and think it’s weird that was normal. Much like most of history. Things don’t need excusing or justifying all the time, but Farage being a neo Nazi fascist rich kid does need to be examined.

Bizarrely, a lot of Reform supporters condemn Starmer for every innocuous reasons but forgive hate preacher Farage every wrong move. It’s a totally different moral compass which they judge either leader on. Must be a way of coping with the fact that Brexit has been a disaster and that they support a traitor. *To clarify there’s plenty to criticise Stramer for but he gets unfairly abused by the Reform mob.
| Farage’s press conference going well on 20:37 - Dec 4 with 805 views | itfc_bucks | I'm more than a little surprised that the financial backers of Faragists politics haven't found a mouthpiece with a cleaner history than Nigel. While I grant you his politics lends it'self to a certain...unsavoury past, it can't be too hard to find a current right wing loon who doesn't have quite the baggage of a Farage. That, to me, is the real risk ahead of the next election. They find someone who really can reach across to the middle. | |

Problem is, dear old Nige has become the hero for the uneducated, the gullible, the desperate z- list grifters such as Joey Barton, Katie Hopkins and Lawrence Fox and, of course, the proudly and now emboldened racists. Dreadful times.

And Love Thy Neighbour started in 72 and ran until 1976. I would have guessed 1970 to 73. We only had two black lads at school. One was Buster Brooker who was a few year older, hard as nails and nobdy fooked with him. But the other lad got terrible stick the day after the show as on. None of it meant with malice, which seems an odd thing to say. Poor kid used to laugh along and come back with 'hinky replies' but he must have been crying inside.

....ran till 1979 and they brought it back in 1986. I always used to fancy Francoise Pascal. Ooh la la.

Yeah it’s odd, but then it’s a bit of a cult. I’m thankfully out of the loop now I’m not on social media and am increasingly ignoring the media too. It’s a breath of fresh air, although I get a feel for what’s going on through this place. A good example of what you’re talking about would be DJR’s posts about the attacks on Reeves around her chess accompaniments as a teenager. Absolutely crackers. You’d think there’d be enough to take her to task over around her professional record, but apparently that’s not what the Reform types are interested in. It’s very odd.

The sad thing Griz is that there are plenty here who will still back good ol' Nige. I can't imagine what Farage will actually have to do before they reflect on that and see him and his party for what he/it is.

It’s like Trump with his “I could shoot someone on 5th avenue and they’d still elect me” statement For Farage’s cult and a bizarrely increasingly vocal section of the media, they’ll still defend him or find a way to ignore the obvious And Reform have to back him to the death, as without Farage there is no Reform.
