I’ll forgive. Just remember, tap-ins and penalties don’t count.

Next weeks visit of Stoke is the first time it has not resold. But if tickets are not going for Cov remember that Christmas is only two weeks away and many family oriented people have other priorities. I dissagree that people will be put off because of the strength of the opposition. It is going to be the best atmosphere since we thrashed the Budgies. |
Cov was a great atmosphere. Stoke ticket sold in the end. 6 points so far this week. I have nothing to complain about.

Just an observation that the poster who started this thread hasn't popped up on here since before the Coventry game, when there was a platform for negativity. Funny that.

Couldn’t do the Coventry game and my seat resold quickly. I did see Stoke and the crowd was 27000, nearly of the 2000 gaps in the area around the away supporters. Stoke, I believe, brought about 1000. Not bad for a miserable journey on a Wednesday night. Nothing wrong with the attendances and the atmosphere on Weds was fine. What a greater capacity and new stand brings is: For beginners, more opportunity for casual supporters to see games, tickets for schools etc, leg room (I’m 5ft 9ins and my knees were jammed against the seat in front) last time I sat in the East Stand, better facilities and room for non football stuff to make better use of the ground. It’s not rocket science. Nothing to complain about. [Post edited 13 Dec 11:58]

What horror show? They share their stadium with a Premiership rugby club and also have big concerts there. And City get bigger average crowds than the old Ashton Gate could hold.

To do that we need a team capable of beating the likes of West Ham, Everton, Palace, Brighton etc. I don't feel we have that yet. As a squad we are probably half a dozen players short of being good enough to stay in that league.

You mean Premier League champions in our new ground under a rich owner? You would seem to prefer we were playing in front of 15,000 in an undeveloped ground from the 1980s.

No i mean empty stadium every week. We’ve sold out the ground for about 2 and a half years of the last 20 and now we’ve decided we need an extra 10k seats. Ridiculous. When’s the last time you went to Ewood Park? Is that an atmosphere you’d like to be in every week?

Don’t really see how you can fail to see the most likely outcome here given gates were at about 15k less than 10 years ago

But that's because their owner sold up and the football went down the pan. I wouldn't want to be a Blackburn fan but their club hasn't been invested in for a long time. Their pitch is a bog. Our ownership are investing in more than just increasing the capacity of the ground. Would you prefer to follow Bournemouth or Grimsby? What about our ownership makes you think we will be any of those clubs in 30 years? Historically we have bounced around between the top flight and the second tier. When we are doing well we sell out and the atmosphere is good. When we do poorly the crowds drop off the atmosphere is not so great. I would love to be able to get tickets and see us when we are doing well. I have always been able to do so when we are struggling but have been more limited in the successful times. I suspect that pattern will remain even with the increased capacity. However, without increasing the capacity the chances of me seeing the team when we are successful would likely dwindle.

‘Historically we have bounced between around between the top flight and second tier’ That’s what makes me think we could end up in Blackburn’s position The amount of times I’ve heard ‘your ground’s too big for you’ coming from the away end - I’ve lost count. But you just worry about getting your ticket to watch us against Man United once every 20 years

Try actually reading my post! I easily get tickets when we are doing poorly - about 5 or 6 times a season. I struggle to get tickets when we play the likes of Everton, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool (or away at all) when we are doing well. I can only ever recall getting tickets to see us v Man Utd when I was a boy or for a mid-week cup match in the 90s. But you do you and worry about the away fans annoying you.

If you think the grounds empty when we are shít now imagine it with another 10k empty seats, or half a stand given to an away team

If you think the atmosphere is poor because of how empty the ground is you really don't get it. The atmosphere is poor when the team are not doing well. Maintaining a capacity of 10,000 won't make the atmosphere better. In fact it would probably put off those who want to follow us but couldn't get tickets so they wouldn't return when were poor. I really don't get why you think maintaining a smaller ground will somehow prevent us ever having a poor atmosphere again.

You don’t like the plans and ambition to build the club, and establish it as a top club in English football. OK, understood - but it’s a strange position to hold by a ‘supporter’.

If they come out tomorrow and said our plan to make the club bigger and more successful was to sack McKenna would you blindly agree with that, or would you come to your own conclusion about what is for the best of the club in the long term?
