| Mcateer… on 17:02 - Dec 20 with 1524 views | gainsboroughblue | Getting into positions I guess. I think the transfer fee gives fans more ammunition at him than anything and he has no control over that. He needs a goal or someone to actually finish a potential assist he sets up, then maybe he'll settle. | |

Tried hard to make something happen. He's not been a top level signing but don't like the criticism he's getting.

There's a solid player in there - pace and power - just needs a confidence boost, which you don't tend to get unconditionally from supporters these days unfortunately.

If he had some technical ability, he'd be some player, as his energy is fantastic and he's really effective at timing his runs inside or outside the fullback. I guess KM is hoping to polish him in that regard.

Forget the transfer fee, that's written off. Let's judge him on his performances... the guy is nowhere near good enough to be a regular championship player, nevermind one challenging at the top of the league. Touch, vision, finishing are non existent. He might work hard but that doesnt excuse the lack of ability.
| Mcateer… on 17:23 - Dec 20 with 1136 views | seblue78 | You can see what KM sees in him, but his touch is appalling. Let’s hope it’s a confidence thing. We should’ve won that by 4 or 5 really had him and azon been sharper. Thought Azon had a pretty good game once he settled down. Again there’s clearly a player in there. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That’s a typical fan reaction to losing players. See Furlong and Nunez
| Mcateer… on 17:36 - Dec 20 with 960 views | Swansea_Blue | Yet he was much more involved than Egeli. Yes, he’s a frustrating watch when he gets in great positions but can’t find the final ball or take a chance. It’s a cliche, but he is getting in those positions and that’s the main thing. Walle Egeli (wonderkid, work in progress, etc) isn’t really in any way influential at the moment if we’re honest about it. Which is fine, as he’s got potential and I’m sure it will come. So McAteer is just a good option but for different reasons. | |

To be fair, the game was much more stretched when mcateer came on. So it’s difficult to compare them. They’re also completely different players. Personally I think Egeli is a 10.

I don’t give a t0ss what opposing fans think. I care what KmK thinks, and sees in him. Still might not work out, if Kieran can’t weave his magic, but I’ll judge after at we’ve at least seen how he develops over the season.

Or you could make your own mind up? Maybe even go wild and give him a season or so? He's played less than 10 hours total for us in the league. That's less than 7 full games. He's spoken openly about taking some time to settle in after so long at Leicester. Best write him off now though eh?

Awash with them at the moment. They're like coiled springs waiting for our players to make the slightest mistake so that they can pile on. Wish they would f off. [Post edited 20 Dec 2025 17:55]

| Mcateer… on 17:58 - Dec 20 with 679 views | ITFC_History | I agree he fluffed most of his lines today. But this was the first game I thought to myself that he has the potential to improve his game massively & come good for us. He certainly had more of an impact than Egeli did in the short time he was on & he kept going even when the crowd got on his case. Just my thoughts. | | | |

You don't get the opportunities he had in his time on the pitch if you're a bad player. To be open for those couple of chances and to get in behind for the chances he created you have to have excellent movement and reading of the game and you have to have a decent amount of pace as well. It's frustrating for him as well as us that the end product hasn't been there but he's improving and he's a threat. The fans need to back him, not act like a bag of dicks every time he doesn't get something quite right. [Post edited 20 Dec 2025 18:07]

He also has very poor control off the ball , it’s the most we can expect from a 11M purchase surely, I don’t know wether it’s lack of confidence or luck , I don’t think any one of us who watches him regularly can not come to the same conclusions…….very poor as described by Leicester fans . Not a rant but an observation thus far .
