Please, let’s not have… 19:41 - Dec 26 with 2654 viewsITFC_84

… 30-31 days of January p1ssing around for a makeshift no.9, a 5th choice CM and a reserve team RW. Ashton said we’ve got money to spend and will be active. Let’s be active in the 1st week and not wait until we’re nearly in February before much needed quality reinforcements come through the door.
Surely we’ve identified 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice targets…

I don't disagree with any of that but there were teams who got it done. Birmingham spring to mind.

I know hindsight is always 20/20 but it was a pretty big fail, which stands out quite starkly as we have done so well in the past few years at everything else. And we were in exactly the same place two seasons ago (huzzah for Keiffer), which is slightly frustrating

Birmingham got it done by spending £9m on a 30+ year old striker in Kyogo who currently has zero goals in twenty appearances. It's possible to get business done early, it might not be good business always though.

I'm sure Ashton and McKenna would like all business to be done by 2nd January but it doesn't work like that. Admittedly it's frustrating but I'm more concerned about who we bring in than when.

The relentless negativity must be really tiring.

But it’s not is it. We are still hearing in December that the team hasn’t properly gelled from Mckenna. It’s still a work in progress, so how are these new pieces just meant to fit then, answer me that one ?

There's quite a big difference between adding 3 or 4 players to reinforce a group versus signing 10-12 players.

Let’s hope they’ve been identified, they’ll be contacted on Jan 1st, and will be given a decent wages (+bonuses for promotion). If they don’t agree, move onto next. Surely, we’re an attractive proposition for many?

I’m not miserable now. I just think the money we have spunked on very average players is pretty bad business . If McCarthy spent that money and had been in this position people would have been out for blood. Again our fans sit on their hands and grin with their rose tinted glasses on. Just like when they clapped their way all the way to division one. No other teams fans would react so passively over 150 million wasted on very very average players.

Average? There are 72 teams in the EFL and we're currently top 3. How on earth do you describe the players as 'very, very average'?
I'm really interested to see the working.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

For the amount money we have spent compared to the rest we should walk the league. We are stumbling along at best, because the league is so weak.

You sound miserable. We sold two of those average players that made up a decent chunk of the £150m spend for nearly £70m in the summer so they can't all be that average. We're sat third despite not really clicking yet which again would suggest the players are better than average otherwise we'd be sat bottom half with average players not performing at their best.

That doesn't make the players 'very very average' though does it?

Southampton and Leicester have the other highest value squads and sit well below us. It's a difficult and very tight league and we're struggling for any consistency but calling a squad in third place with multiple full and junior internationals 'average' is hyperbolic nonsense.

Forgetting the fact that any decent player in form would need to be replaced by their club

Unless they are a club facing FFP pressures, or are loss making and the owner is fed up, and who are comfortably in mid table, but unlikely to be promoted or qualify for Europe etc.

In which case, money would definitely talk.

If my auntie had balls she’d be my uncle.

Mick didn’t get money to spend, so we actually had “average” players and were thus a very average team, only threatening the playoffs once and then being outclassed by those muppets up the road. If you can’t see some (most) of our players are better than average, there’s no helping you.

What enjoyment do you get from relentlessly posting negative stuff?

Must be a boring life in the outlook household.
