Now i know we try to buy players with a resale value and maybe Moore is coming towards the end but think Wrexham paid £4mill , i have no idea of wages of course but i do think maybe he could have done a job for us this season .

Doubt he want to sit on the bench. Hirst would have been ahead of him.

Well he does sometimes for Wrexham and has something like 10 league goals for them !

Ffs. What on earth does Moore have on this fan base? The clambering for him is painful.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

The plus points are that he knows the system, can hold the ball up and bring in our talented forward line into the game and he knows where the back of the net is.

I think maybe we should have tried to keep him when we went up, in hindsight sight would have been a different option with experience. However he isn’t the answer now. For me the guy from Swansea or Ivanovich.

He's 33 and was given a very good 3 year contract.

It's not a signing we would make on those terms or is it one we should make.

Need to stop looking backwards all the time, it's becoming a reoccurring theme on this forum.

Context is important.

Young is here on a short term contract, as backup, likely with an eye on moving into coaching and his son is here.

None of that applies to Moore.

We should have signed him the season he made a massive contribution to get us in the prem. He eclipses Akpom and Azon - and would be a perfect understudy / sub with Hirst.

Moore could also be brought in on a short-term playing contract with an eye on moving into coaching - lord knows our strikers need a better one than we have currently!

Did you read my other post properly?

He was offered a 3 year playing deal at Wrexham on good wages, he's not going to accept a short term contract with the prospect of moving into coaching given that.

Context, context, context.

Not at the start of the season. Loads was saying he wasn't good enough for us and we should be looking at better.......we got Azon.

Moore would have been an ideal player to get and whatever yiu say, he scores goals and adds something different to us, I.e. someone who can head it. But the argument was he's not mobile enough.....

It's a pointless debate, we wouldn't have offered him 3 years at 33 and Wrexham did, he would never have come here.

Not if we offered him more money.......

Yes it's a pointless debate because we don't know what we'd have offered him. But seeing as he's on £30k at Wrexham, I agree we wouldn't have offered him say £90k for 1 season so he'd have most likely gone to Wrexham.

Moore isn't coming but I think this window should be about the here and now, not the future.

We wasted too much time in the summer chasing Premier League ready players rather than those who could actually get us there.

After the season he had last year, it's a bit of a surprise to see his numbers this time around. He was awful in a 100 point team.

But then it's not really a surprise when you consider he is in a Phil Parkinson team and he gets every pass sent directly to him. He got us out of a tight spot when we needed him but he doesn't fit our style and we were right not to pursue him in the summer.

I'm a fan of Moore but if we had signed him in the summer there would have been lots of blubbing.

I've not said anywhere we should be buying for the future.

All I've said is that Moore and people of that age on long contracts aren't something the club are going to do.

Agree that in this window we need people who can come straight in, someone like Louza in CM and Surridge at CF.

I suspect we might spend reasonably on someone we've never really heard of though, like we did with Azor. Given how him and Kipre have played and the cost of them the French league looks good value. I know nothing about it though so can't even begin to guess any names.

He is properly good at this level but Stokie's right, Wrexham's bid went beyond sensible.

But still more clinical?

What someone like Moore offered really was a counter measure against low block sides, adding the extra aerial dominance to the mix
