| Did I miss Sammy s getting injured? on 19:50 - Dec 27 by southnorfolkblue | Would you play him ahead of Philogene or Clarke, because that would have been his competition? |
I would rotate. Clarke blows hot and cold. Also Broady is much more versatile than either Philogene or Clarke, he can play basically anywhere as an attacker.

| Did I miss Sammy s getting injured? on 20:06 - Dec 27 by BloomBlue | Told at Millwall yesterday by a Town fan he is definitely being sold to Norwich. Apparently there was a cleaner at the Szmodics house just before Christmas, clear evidence he's moving. |
HEY! I told you that in confidence!

| Did I miss Sammy s getting injured? on 17:25 - Dec 27 by Herbivore | Although those seasons were outliers for both of them in terms of goal return. |
This seems to be part of the problem. We’ve seen ourselves how a good team around them can bring the best out of players (e.g. Chaplin who had by far his best L1 season and his best Championship season). He’s done nothing this season. Finding consistent performers is the challenge. FWIW , Piroe who everyone seems to be talking about for some reason is a consistent goal scorer at this level. It still doesn’t mean he’d click here, but the odds are higher. He’s done well over multiple seasons in a very average team (Swansea).

| Did I miss Sammy s getting injured? on 18:35 - Dec 27 by ITFCSG | Fair enough, but the main cause of his unhappiness was because McK for some reason or another that still mystifies me refused to play him - to the extent that his mum had to go on social media to tell the world that her son is fit for selection. Look at the players who replaced him, Clarke aside (who would be useful to rotate) the rest are no better and I daresay worse. Broadhead and Davis worked well together as well. Much better than the disjointed mess we are seeing now. Sometimes I don't know if McK and MA change just for the sake of changing. As we are seeing right now, expensive players doesn't mean better. |
He's been replaced by Philogene and Clarke who are both much better players than Broadhead, and I say that as someone who was a big fan of his.

Indeed. Broadhead was excellent for Town in his time here, but he benefitted from being part of a team that was winning regularly. He did start 18 Premier League games for us & I'm not sure his contribution was greater than Philogene's or Clarke's.

| Did I miss Sammy s getting injured? on 17:50 - Dec 27 by GlasgowBlue | I hope he's back soon. One of the few forward players with a bit of fight in them. |
Don't think he really fits in with how we try and play through the forwards. He can score but doesn't have the other skills needed to play in that role for us. I think if we could recoup a decent amount in January we would go for it. SB

Dont get the fascination with Brioadhead. He was not that good, hence he didnt play and still doesnt

A player I wasn't keen on us signing, given that we were paying £10m & was aged nearly 29, especially on the back of one prolific season with Blackburn where I guess their style of play was set up to suit Szmodics. He doesn't seem to fit well into our system, despite his obvious eye for goal so we aren't getting the best out of him.

If he's used in the right way in the right system, yes, I agree.

Will he? He's 30+ and has only got into double figures in four seasons in his career, two of those were in League 2 and one in League 1. That's one season of hitting double figures at this level in a Blackburn side set up in a very particular way. That set up led to Sammie having an incredible goalscoring season but nearly ended up with Blackburn getting relegated so I'm not sure building a team to get the best out of him is a proven recipe for success. The evidence also suggests it's not likely he'd start banging them in if he goes elsewhere, that's not been the story of his career.

Slightly different profile of player, but yes, they are better. Broadhead was a stealthy intelligent type of player who used to pop up in good central positions. But did used to disappear for long parts of matches. Easy to be rose-tinted about him, but McKenna never really seemed to trust him fully.

On reflection you're probably correct, I've just got a feeling he's still got a few goals in him.
