I know we were linked with him alot before, but if we ended up going up, I could see us signing him as first choice.

They are likely to go up too, so I can’t see that happening

With them going up as well, unlikely. Wouldn't say no though.

Depends how much loyalty he has or if he thinks we're more likely to stay up than Cov

Think we tried that last time and Brighton wouldn’t let him go permanently.

Walton is doing pretty well - I’d be tempted to stick with him.

Indeed. Sky commentators suggesting tonight that he's very much seen as the successor to Verbruggen.

Is he only on loan? I didn't realise that. If Brighton are open to an offer, then we should at least explore the option.

Having seen our two games against them and Swansea’s on Boxing Day (a one nil win but undeserved), I’ll be amazed if they go up. They look utterly crap. They’ve probably got a big enough head start, but if they keep playing like this that lead will quickly disappear.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Hes 23! He doesn't need a successor for a long time! And Rushworth is older.

I'm in this camp. I think Cov will fall out of the top two

It's more a case of when Verbruggen moves on. Brighton *are* the 'player trading' model, and Verbruggen is tipped as a massive one for the future. He'll move on sooner rather than later.

That relies on us and the pack behind them picking up some consistency. Which seems wildly unlikely for now!

The one thing you can hang your hat on with us this season is that we are consistently inconsistent.

Agreed, but Walton has had a couple of games where he was as brilliant as Rushworth was last night.

The save from Taylor was out of this world and the one from Azon just before Clarke's goal was brilliant too - Azon hit that really well and Rushworth got down so quickly. Harsh to laugh when he was floundering about in his own net after the the ball looped over him for the first goal, but I did. Great keeper.

...A prime example being in the home game against Coventry - the save from Eccles (I think it was) onto the post was probably as good as the one Rushworth made from Taylor.

They obviously are not though. They have been a fantastic attacking side this season scoring bags of goals and winning loads of games. Why use a 2-3 game sample size. We've looked poor in more games.

For us we are much better against teams that come to play. We struggle against a low block and counter. They have a lot of physicality to break those teams down.

I hope we can reel them in now!!
