Ilyas Ansah - Union Berlin striker… on 15:53 - Dec 31 by Metal_Hacker
Actually one of my best mates is German , resides in Berlin , supports Union and the local semi pro side he plays for are assisted financially every now and again and is able to get tickets. All quite tight knit
I’ll get the low down on him if I can
Colleague's son is at Uni in Hamberg, supports Union Berlin, have asked for an opinion.

Fits the profile of hoping to turn in a profit in the future, but do they fit the profile of a striker who’s going to settle immediately and bag a dozen goals over the rest of the season? Because that’s what we need. There are only so many young players with no experience of the Championship we can carry imo, despite how good they may become in future.
He's scoring at 1 in 3 in the Bundesliga, but doesn't always play 90 minutes.
He averages a goal every 218 minutes, which is slightly better than 4 in 10 whole matches. In the top German Division.
If he did the same in the English Championship that would equate to approx. 19 in a full season in which he started and finished games.
These are excellent figures. He is big, and quick for his size.
That's just looking at stats via AI. I haven't seen him play.

We're getting the goals now though. I think we need and will want someone who stretches and bullies defences exactly like Hirst at his best does, and Azon looks like he's starting to do, but perhaps with a little extra direct threat a la Delap - not easy criteria to meet, but I'd be quite happy with a young un with a superb engine, brains, toughness and swagger.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!
Some added stats on the guy from a site I use. Can confirm 6ft 4ins, more of a centre left attacking midfielder than an out and out striker, but has played as an out and out striker for UB so far this season 4 times and scored twice, 9 times as the attacking midfielder and scored 3 with one assist. Turned 21 less than 2 months ago. They also provide an overview of a player based on his last 2 seasons appearances. Particular strengths, weaknesses and style of play.
Strengths: Long shots, dribbling. Weaknesses: Aeriel Duels, passing, holding on to the ball.
General style of play: Likes to dribble, gets fouled often, does not dive into tackles.
Don't know if all that helps? I'll leave everyone to their own opinions!

We can turn him into a bullying No.9. He knows where the goal is, so age and experience will help him. We will need to teach him how to hold the ball up for others to join though, that's an important part of the McKenna way of playing. Not an easy thing to learn, it's more of a natural instinct as a forward. I would take a punt at £14M though.
Wouldn't count towards the squad cap (assuming a permanent deal now) so becomes less of an issue keeping Azon/Akpom (our FA Cup run will keep everyone happy.......).
