There were rumours Trump went earlier because Maduro was dancing on TV, almost mocking him. This appears to confirm that. He is so thin skinned

It’s a constant stream of unserious effluent to cover up some very serious crimes, isn’t it? And it’s polluting the airwaves constantly. It was bliss when he got booted out last time and I can’t wait for him to disappear again. Hopefully that’ll happen before his term is up.

There is a march of those Jan 6th criminals he pardoned today from the Elipse to the Capitol. Literally goading their guilt for all of America to see on the 5th anniversary of the attack. And Trump is on TV right now blaming Pelosi

He doesn't give a sh't about Russian ships. If he cared about Russian presence he'd give robust support to Ukraine. He'd look to strengthen NATO not undermine it.

| Venezuela under attack (n/t) on 21:56 - Jan 7 with 387 views | WicklowBlue | All going well in the acquisition of Venezuela oil for Tumps use evidently. US will have to buy Venezuelan oil at 'international price' - PDVSA board member Venezuela's state petroleum firm PDVSA has said that talks for the sale of crude oil to the United States have begun. "Negotiations are under way with the United States for the sale of volumes of oil within the framework of existing commercial relations between the two countries," PDVSA, said in a statement. PDVSA board member Wills Rangel, who is also a union leader, said the U.S. will need to buy at international prices if the country wants Venezuelan oil. "If they want to buy it, they will have it in due time, sold at the international price," Rangel said. "Not the way (Trump) intends, as if that oil belongs to them because we supposedly owe them. We do not owe anything to the United States." JD Vance countering saying Venezuela can only sell its oil if it serves the interest of USA. Power struggle continues... as predicted. Not condoing these actions at all obviously, but only one head of the Hydra has been removed. | | | |

Yeah given they are unprofitable and heaped in debt (some of which is distressed) it will be interesting to see who’s going to assume the $150bn+ owed. The Venezuelan state also still owes some of the western oil majors for assets requisitioned by the state (reneging on international agreements). To your last point, this is pertinent- with the regime still largely being in place it’s a huge geopolitical gamble for private firms to invest. In reality the US could lose interest in Venezuela and it just reverts to a status quo (with potential for losing more assets). Oil and gas is an industry I follow closely at work, nobody is going to bring huge new infrastructure projects online with oil being so cheap. So you’re then taking a gamble on whether prices will increase in the future with consumption set to decline from 2030 onwards. It seems the 2bn barrels in the press is likely inventory (possibly destined for another market) [Post edited 7 Jan 22:31]

I bow to your closer knowledge on the fuel industry. But what you say aligns with this general humongous mess that Trump/Miller are walking into. The oil that is being seconded over to the US is acknowledged as what Venezuela has in storage. Turning those oil fields (which we all know have massive reserves) is going to take huge amount of capital investment. That isn’t going to be attractive for any of the US moguls unless the political situation stabilises and they have capital injections. Dont want to predict this situation, but for me what some of the politicos dont understand is that if the push Venezuelian sovereignty then those oil fields could be raised to the ground. Similar to other incursions... everyone can fill in those blanks. Sorry for being facetious but this reminds me somewhat of the great movie "There will be blood"...
