Too much ground for them to make up I would think? I do think the Championship is going to be tougher next year. It’s hard to see Wolves and West Ham escaping the drop.

This would be a great season to be promoted given how much the other parachute teams look off the promotion race. Though I guess Sunderland prove it doesn’t matter how strong you are in the Championship to make a go of the PL

They’re down, too far gone.

West Ham going down is going to be bloody funny n’all.

This is certainly the year to go up. Leicester could suck up their points deduction and sort themselves out, Southampton too. Brum & Wrexham will strengthen, all 3 relegated clubs will be strong. Can’t see the Champ being any easier next season than it is now.

and WestHam maybe looking for a new manager. I can see KM being very attracted to this one.

Seriously? It's a toxic club, and he'd be heading for a second relegation. He has turned down better clubs, so I very much doubt that.

Wolves have been shocking this season obviously but recent performances have been much better and against Arse, Liverpool and United to boot.

West Ham going down would amuse me no end.

Yes seriously. He would have nothing to lose. Even if they went down they would be big favourites for promotion. Short commute if he didn't want to uproot his family. This one would concern me more then any of the other links.

Strange seeing Wolves with as many as 6 points in the table.

He has absolutely everything to lose, including his credibility. Their recruitment is a total disaster. Their fans hate their owners and the team, apart from Bowen. We will be swapping places with them in 5 months.

How is it a better opportunity than staying at town?

That was what prompted me to make the post. They are way way way off safety, but beating those around you can quicky change things, as we know all too well at the minute. They seem to be much improved in the last few weeks, but they have only managed to turn that into single points rather than 3's, which won't help them.

Honestly, I don't think they'll be anywhere near at the end of the season, and I hope not, if we are to get promoted. It would make things a bit more interesting this season if they did pick up a bit though.

Yeah hard to disagree with that. A stadium they rent, fickle fans, incompetent owners.

I would have thought a well run established PL club would be the most obvious, and that was why Brighton must have been tempting.

Your final lines hit the nail exactly. Look how strong Burnley were in the Championship last year. On 16 goals conceded in 46 games - incredible but they're almost certs for the drop with less points than we had at this stage last year.
Whoever we recruit in January, they really don’t have to be Prem ready. They just need to assist us in getting there first. If we do, then our recruitment strategy has to different again.

McKenna is about to get a brand new training ground, far superior to West Ham's

And we look in a good position to be in the Prem, whilst West Ham are going the other way.

If he gets us up then things open up for him to potentially get a job with a stable premier league club rather than one on a death spiral. Even if he doesn't get us up he can get a better gig than with that lot.

If McKenna gets Ipswich promoted for a second time, after rebuilding the team, then he can expect to be in the bracket of managers considered for a top 6 job.

For his long term CV and getting to the top it would make more sense to stay and complete the job rather tha jumping ship right now.

Obviously if Chelsea come calling next week that's a different kettle of fish but can't see it.

Can’t see it personally.

It would be like accepting the captains job on the Titanic just after it hit the iceberg!
