Don’t mean that in a disrespectful way, love the guy but I think we need to upgrade wherever we can. Nunez shirt to lose as the most effective creative player in the league.

Absolutely agree. I think there was a likelihood he will be recalled because he wasn't playing. If he is recalled, I would expect him to be loaned or sold somewhere. We all love what Chaplin did for the club but he isn't going to be playing for us in the Premier League regularly in the future.

Wouldn't he be the perfect back up / understudy to Nunez though? Very similar in playing style. Would allow us to let SS go too without spending on that position.

Can't go on loan anywhere else as he played for us at the start of the season. He either stays at Portsmouth, or comes back to be part of our squad.

We would be doing them a favour if we took him back. (This isnt an anti-Chaplin post btw,I love the guy)

He can’t be sold or loaned out this season as he’s already played for us & Pompey

Just don’t see him hitting sufficient levels even as backup. Agree Sammie can move on but we should reinvest in the 10 position.

I forgot about that. It does mean a recall is unlikely but McKenna did suggest it was possible. He would be an acceptable back up for us but our actions need to be based on what is best for us as a club. Plus, if he can break into the Pompey team and help them to points, it could help relegate nodge ... (yes, I know how that relates to what I said above!)

Seems a thing nowadays, always look to blame someone or plead hard done by. It is what it is.

He hasn’t pulled up any trees there apparently but think they’ve been playing him wide or something.

Their fans don't seem to want to keep him. SB

There is a suggestion from their own fans that they didn't bother using heaters under the tent as they didn't want to play with all their injuries. SB

We do need an alternative to Nunez in there and it's not like Szmodics or Akpom have ripped it up there You'd prefer someone like Piroe if they are the alternative

They've been playing him right wing though I think. Hardly playing to his strengths.

I don’t believe that sort of stuff. You always get that nonsense online. Maybe I’m too naive

Because he can't get in at 10. He did play there and then was pushed wide. SB

If that was ever a case, which I very much doubt ( though Terry Butcher did once do something reasonably similar when manager at Motherwell by getting the local fire brigade to water the pitch after dark one freezing night before the match was due, and they had stacks of injuries, which he admitted to on one of Life's A Pitch shows! ), then Portsmouth may well have shot themselves in the foot, as getting us to play on a skid pan would surely have brought the gulf between playing strength and class standards down to be much closer. Time to forget conspiracy theories and get the job done when it's rescheduled.
| Hope Pompey's antics today might play into our decision whether to recall Chapli on 14:48 - Jan 4 with 460 views | OldFart71 | As much as I love the bloke he didn't do it in the Championship on our last visit and to take a place up in the squad means someone has to go or be loaned out. I'd rather we got in what we need and a concerted effort made to get rid of the so many players that are either loaned out or in the current squad not getting games. If we are to be a Premier League club I would say we need another half a dozen players. That's to get and stay in that league. | | | |
