Championship promotion specialist, with a sprinkling of Premier League experience. Would be a very handy signing.

To me, this stinks of an agent drumming up interest to get him a new deal at Fulham. Would be very happy to be wrong though! Great player.

Josh Brownhill, went to Saudi.

I take it that it has worked out for him better than it did Morsy in Kuwait? Otherwise he'd have been a decent alternative in midfield.

Can't see Marco Silva letting him go in the middle of the season but maybe in the summer.

He is a class act and would bring a wealth of experience.

You have to be rated if you are captain and asked to start against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverrpool

Can see why they would let him go if they aren't extending his contract at the end of the season and plan to replace him. Could be a move that suits all parties if Fulham get a fee for a player out of contract in 6 months, Cairney gets an 18 month deal on good money and we get a player with a wealth of PL experience to get us over the line this season and to help us next.

If it weren't for the past two games id think thered be a chance

But cant see them going for a loan and cant see us offering a deal at his age imo.

Excellent signing if we did just cant see it as a viable link.

At this stage of the season - we're looking to bring in players that will 'get us over the line'. Thinking back to the likes of Moore et al. This is, indeed, a logical signing.

Quality player, a lot of attributes we need and can benefit from, fit and ready to go.

get us over the line and give us huge experience in Prem. A logical and shrew bit of business if it happens.

Looks like boro are signing Leo Castledine for £1m. Feels like a risk/reward that any championship team who can afford it, should be making that offer also.

I agree. Just cant see him signing on loan and cant see us offering a deal on a perm.

Would be a great signing but cant see it happening.

Attacking mid/ left sided at that - not really a position we are short in.

No, but this could be an absolute bargain for such a low fee. Young, english and goalsy. Even if he's not all that, id wager you'd make profit on him.

Also nice to have a safety net if Philogen or Clarke receive bids

Chelsea youth fan i know says this about him -

"he's a lot like Mason Mount the Chelsea version, hard worker (engine makes up for not being the quickest or biggest/strongest), puts himself about and is super reliable in and out of possession, has goals in him, can use him through midfleld or in various forward roles (also as an emergency CB), proper all-round footballer"

Got a few minutes recently but that's maybe because Iwobi is at AFCON. I think we'll only get him if Fulham tell him he'll get no more minutes and will be released end of the season because otherwise it's a pretty nice gig winding down in the Premier League as the club captain and modern-day legend.

Whenever I have seen him, and he has always been a good footballer, I thought he was far more a Taylor & Cajuste ball player than a Matusiwa ball winner type player.

Remember how good he was for Blackburn, and has always been a smooth footballer, but just don't know if that is where we need to add.
[Post edited 8 Jan 14:27]

Exactly this, we need Matusiwa cover still. I guess he could also be earmarked to play the 10 role now that we seem to be favouring more of a link up player than second striker. Also wondering whether he still has the legs for a CM role as he doesn't seem to have played regularly for a while.

Taylor and Cajuste in my opinon are not good enough, Cairney would be unbeleivable at this level and will hold more than his own in the premier league for the season if we get promoted. A midfield of him and Azor would be ridiculously good.

That description sounds a bit like someone already on our books. He made 48 appearances on loan at a League One club last season scoring 7 goals.

Leo Castledine has forty six appearances on loan in League One over the past two seasons scoring nine goals.

Why on earth would we spend over a million quid on Castledine? His mum is ex Homes Under the Hammer presenter Lucy Alexander so maybe that's it.

Two years younger and an England youth international. Also sounds nothing like Humphreys, aside from both having played in League One and scored goals? Might aswell compare him to Freddie Ladapo

Sounds nothing like Humphreys?
"hard worker (engine makes up for not being the quickest or biggest/strongest)" - tick
"puts himself about" - maybe not.
"super reliable in and out of possession" - tick
"has goals in him" - tick
"can use him through midfield" - tick
"in various forward roles" - OK, wouldn't be anyone's choice as a number 9 but definitely a 10
"also as an emergency CB" - substitute LB for CB and that's a tick
"proper all-round footballer" - I'd say so.

Castledine last played at England youth level in2023-24 season for the under 19s. Nothing since.

34. Bit of experience and know-how to get us over the line.

Bags and bags of Prem experience, inc 13 this season.

Some saying 'well why didn't we get Sam back'. But I think it showed last season that Sam had started to lose his edge. I also think to bring him back into a squad where so many don;t know him could end up being as disruptive as it could be helpful. Would have been a big gamble - which KM thought better of.

I saw too many posts at the start of the season lauding our squad and especially the likes of Cajuste as being 'ridiculously good' for me to be very cautious! But if his legs have still got it then I'd welcome him here in a flash.

Only really interested in the first two and a half minutes of that which show the League One games. Looks a good player though, but that's the point of a highlights reel.

He's more athletic and powerful than Humphreys, better in the air (taller), takes a decent set piece and got a decent long range shot on him. Would suggest he's more of a forward than Humphreys is.

He's probably more comparable to Egeli.

I mentioned in the summer I thought he'd be the perfect replacement for Morsy because of his experience.
