| Do we think the club have locked down the leaks? on 19:32 - Jan 15 with 3549 views | Chris_ITFC | To be a little less flippant… I think it’s a stated fact by Phil/EADT (can’t remember who) that it’s a more mature, cooperative relationship now, and with only 2 local journalism operators, it’s a lot easier to manage that relationship than to try to find a leak. That’s always been the case - but the club is a lot more professional and sophisticated now, and the price of such leaks much bigger (literally and metaphorically). It’s also the case that we aren’t in a summer window of recent years, trying to sign 10 players, so news will feel slower. We’re after very specific things in very specific positions, presumably with very specific targets. | |

I think this has been true for a while but stuff gets out because there are other clubs, players, agents etc. involved. We are obviously trying to sign players but I don’t think it’s a case of needing tonnes of bodies and so we probably are being quite low volume in our work.
| Do we think the club have locked down the leaks? on 19:42 - Jan 15 with 3387 views | SheffordBlue | Think it's a combination of a couple of players moving on, fewer agents trying to shift their players in this window and us probably only trying to fill 2 or 3 slots. | |

That’s been the case for a few years now but still been getting rumours and stuff quite a bit. I’m not complaining, would rather it be like this and we just get people ‘out of the blue’.

Yes, it works well now. There is clearly some off the record briefing to Phil and Stuart Watson, often to shoot-down incorrect information that they don’t want the world running with. Clearly in return for keeping the odd story out of the public realm until things are ready (or close to ready) to be announced, the local town media get a share of exclusives and interviews. It seems to suit everyone [Post edited 15 Jan 20:17]

A good few of the leaks have come from one of the receptionists at the Hospital.

Still 17 days left of the window, so no need to go into Corporal Jones mode yet. ( Apologies to much younger readers who might not have a clue about what I'm on about! ).

Pretty obvious Ashton has some kind of agreement with the local press to stop leaks or anything that could jeopardise deals.
| Do we think the club have locked down the leaks? on 10:47 - Jan 16 with 934 views | OldFart71 | I think it's more to do with the Africa nations Cup. Once that's over things will start to move. In my humble opinion I do think little thought is given to the precise times of these windows. When the pre season window opened because of how the dealings of clubs financial wise meant that it was at least a couple of weeks before it made buying players viable, but selling was o.k. due to how the financial fair play rules and how purchases and sales were either in one financial year or another it made it worthwhile selling Delap, but not buying new players. As with the Africa Nations Cup you would think common sense would have been to delay the window. | | | |
