That pass wasn’t on them and we were lucky to get away with it. He’s no Hladky (nor is Palmer).

I'm all for us doing it and know why we do. We just look bloody awful doing it a lot of the time.

We have been gifted this position and looks like we want to throw it away.

That completely misses the point. We need to nearly get caught out at times to encourage them to over-press. It’s not about playing safe. Yes, it can make me nervous at times, but I get why we play like that, and don’t want to see it change. Get on board with how we play, and the risk/reward tacticts.

It's quite something isn't it? The fact people are nervous has no bearing whatsoever on what's happening on the pitch. This is how we play, we're setting teams up to press us and we break on them with all the excitement that brings and folk are calling for the captain to lead a dressing room mutiny. Amazing.

‘If we’re going to preserve with it’ It’s literally our style of play and how we’ve played since McKenna came in, it won us two promotions and currently has us third in the Championship.

It's like some here haven't watched us for the last 3 and a half years! You need to encourage the opposition on to you, by giving them the thought that they have a chance of nicking the ball off you, that's exactly what creates the space in the midfield that Leif then usually occupies. If you just punt it up the field Blackburn will just sit back and soak it up.

Playing the ball around at the back makes sense when you want to brake a deadlock but we are two goals up and it is an unnecessary risk in these circumstances.

Not sure I implied mutiny, but when you try something 5 times and it fails 5 times....? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So the answer is to punt it back up the field, and face the ball coming back at us over, and over, putting a different kind of pressure on us? It's not all about scoring goals, it's also about keeping the possession, the opposition can't score if they don't have the ball.

Of course, which has nothing to do with what I said. It’s not working as well now as it used to when we won those two promotions. I’m not saying we need to stop doing it; but we do need to be better at it.

Indeed. It is possible to accept or embrace how we try to do things and get concerned when we don't look comfortable doing it at the same time.

In fairness to those involved in the thread, KM changed it at HT and we played a lot less of it second half. So he clearly felt we were doing it to much

Do you know that for a fact - or has he just empowered his team to make decisions on the pitch? We played short and long in the first half too.

There is a happy middle ground. Giving away possession in the middle of the park is slightly better than doing it in front of goal. The ball out to a player facing their own goal and not knowing whats behind them is brainless. Sensible ball retention at the back is a very useful tactic.

Not really, but feel free to keep convincing yourself of that. It's so frustrating hearing idiots in the stands shouting 'get rid of the ball'. Punting it up field and losing possession 9 times out of 10 is a foolish man's game.
