And lots of empty seats in Brighton home end. Annoying these two clubs are so stable and established in the top flight.

Shocking.

A see a few of these clubs don’t sell out a lot of away games.

I’d like to think we’d still sell out after a few years in the PL.

It's the atmosphere that gets me the most. It's dead. Anyone with half a brain cell can see that the PL has sucked the life out of Brighton over the last 3-4 years. Yes, they are doing well, but there's an invisible glass ceiling. I'd take their status, don't get me wrong, but it must be a tad flat/boring knowing the best you can do is 8th/9th every season.

Oh no, it's all very romantic and plucky and not dodgy af. Chelsea dodging Tarquins and hipsters fighting over who might finish above 10th.

If only the sea would claim both clubs.

Ha. Was waiting for your contribution, what with your warm views on both clubs!

Exactly this. They are comfortably numb, with all their analytics and money, they’ll still never really amount to anything. It’s what we’re aiming to be, I guess.

Do generally agree but 8pm on a Monday in January when there’s no trains home isn’t ideal. Although it’s one of their shorter trips by car…

we would, because naturally people get older and would think, for example, ‘i’ve been there X amount of times i’ll miss this one’ then tickets get snapped up by those younger fans that haven’t been before.

Maybe this speaks more to 40 years of terrible public transport investment, where to get between two close cities someone would need to travel into London and out, which is crazy expensive.

It's expensive to be a fan or travel, especially in this system.

I am planning a trip from Cambridge to Northampton. Maybe because both teams used to be on Match of the Week I thought they must be reasonably close to each other. So I was a bit surprised that again that on the train you have to go via London. 2 hours 45 minutes to do what is a 55-mile road trip. Oh Mr Beeching.

Both League 1 clubs whose fans have been spoilt. Remember Brighton fans booing when Graham Potter was in charge and they were sat mid-table in PL.. should remember where they came from.

That's absolutely mental when you consider that you have a South to North connector hub like Peterborough between the two.

Even from Cambs to Peterboro, you have to change at Ely.

Given you can do London to Norwich (118 miles) in 1 hours 45
Bournemouth to Brighton (94 miles) 2 hours 20

One is direct, albeit the same speed it would have been in the 80's

That is one of their closer trips, you'd think they'd be able to do that one, I assume their fanbase has grown after all this PL stint. It's quite a big population area around Bournemouth but it's a town that has grown massively over 100 years and the club doesn't have a lot of history setting down those roots.

It was rumoured they may build a new stadium at some point, it looks like they will upgrade the existing stadium instead. They have spent a tonne of money on the training ground which looks impressive and probably in the modern world of sky money, that's a bigger priority
