If there is someone out there available and willing, then Im sure we can...but the available and willing part is huge for a position where even the best sides in the land struggle to fulfil
| Dan Neil Confirmed on 10:17 - Jan 27 with 2049 views | TownieRob | I just watched the video Phil posted in the story. He looks a terrific player. Far better on the ball than I had given him credit for. I think he will supplement Matusiwa lovely in there, as good as Matusiwa is out of possession he's a little limited when it comes to dictating the play. Something which Morsy was very good at. What I lalso like about that video of Neil, that he seems to be progressive on the ball and even makes the box.. Excited by this signing. | | | |

I have to agree. I thought he was much more of a workhorse than his highlights reel suggests. In fact, there are serious shades of Hayden Hackney in there. Capable of taking the ball in tight areas, playing on the half turn, carrying the ball at speed and a great passing range. A lot to like and, probably, the missing piece alongside Azor to help us control games more.

He will be free agent after this loan, but he will be in the building and we will be in a good position to offer him a good deal if it works for everyone. I doubt he has come to Suffolk for a 6 month working holiday - however lovely it can be! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He probably wants to keep his options open more than us - probably can get a long term deal at a good club (us or otherwise) if he has a good four months with us now.

We are very much aligned. I was completely of the same opinion. Not sure where we got that from!! I thought exactly the same RE: Hackney. How he drives with the ball gave me Cajuste vibes also. I expect him to take a couple of games to get up to speed with how we play and would be surpised to see him start Saturday but reading what I have about him, I have zero doubts he will be ready and willing to start when called upon. He seems the perfect foil for Matusiwa, probably why we were so keen on Hackney all summer.

My mackem mates reckon he’s a really good player. We will see, but bar the cost of the loan I cannot see a downside, given he’s a free agent in the summer.
| Dan Neil Confirmed on 10:47 - Jan 27 with 1583 views | LongLegs | Can't say I've watched lots of him in the past but from the highlights reel he seems really good on the half turn to get us up the pitch. Could be a much more important signing than we think right now! | | | |

I just watched something on youtube and my main takeaway was that he is very lively - quick and decisive in his ball carrying, passing and defensive work. Looks skilful and confident and must be a leader if captain at Sunlun. Ideal partner for Matusiwa, one would think.

| Dan Neil Confirmed on 10:48 - Jan 27 with 1568 views | Swansea_Blue | Well, he looks like a happy chappy doesn't he? We do have a vacancy for a cheeky, happy chappy since Conor left. Let's hope he adds something. I don't recall him from when we played Sunderland last, although one of the clips in the vid is against us. | |

More of a playmaker than an enforcer so will compliment Matusiwa nicely, although there's nothing wrong with someone like that also playing a deeper lying playmaker role if/when Matusiwa misses a game. The only slight problem is we've got 3 fighting for that one position next to Matusiwa, so not the most balanced squad still. He looks a better deputy for Matu than Cajuste and Taylor though, but you'd think he's here to play a lot of football. taylor going to struggle for game time from now mon maybe?

I think the reality is we now have 4 players for 2 positions. Rather than 3 for 1 as I agree with what you say, he definitely could replace Matusiwa, if required. I think Matusiwa has probably played way more minutes than would have been planned this year and has had to learn the league 'on the job' as such. We also dont know long Nunez is out, so could Cajuste/ Talyor be pushed further forward if neccessary.. I'm not sure but its not entirely out of the question I would imagine.

They both played when we beat them 2-1 in 2023. Clarke was superb and Neil got their goal.

Two words Granit Xhaka I'm really pleased with this signing, exactly what we needed and can hopefully cover Azor. Striker next and possibly a CB and think we're good.

Sunderland went for pretty wholesale squad change upon promotion. Far more ruthless (or free-spending) than we were the season before.

| Dan Neil Confirmed on 11:31 - Jan 27 with 1068 views | Herbivore | This is a really good signing. Low risk but with potential upside if things work out as both parties hope. Looks like he can play with and also cover for Matusiwa and he gives us something different to our other midfield options. If we can get a decent centre forward in it will have been a good window. If I'm being greedy, I'd like cover for Leif too. Greaves isn't the answer and with Clarke gone and Young injured for a while we're lacking cover in the left back area. | |
