| If we achieve our pre season objective of promotion 20:34 - Feb 12 with 3711 views | ashtonscoffeecup | I don’t believe this is out of turn to discuss, but we’d see a huge influx of new players, resulting in bonding/settling time, learning what KM wants etc. in my mind currently we would need to bring in, as a minimum; GK RB CB DCM ACM X 2 ST x 2 is that a fair assessment? i can’t see many of this current squad making the step up (however hugely appreciated them for getting us there - if they do) that’s a £150/200m of new player to come in. could be another busy summer | | | | |

for me we must change the way we approach our play AND the player we bring in. it’s so obvious this lovely style with lesser players just isn’t going to cut it. hard fast power direct - that’s what i’m hoping we’ll look to do. doing as we did last time will be insane
| If we achieve our pre season objective of promotion on 20:55 - Feb 12 with 2331 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | There isn't a player in our team that I'm 100% certain can play in the prem. I think we got guys who can contribute for sure, but as starters, I don't know. We obviously got a higher floor now though, last time we were bringing Harness and Al Hamadi off the bench (No disrespect to them). The team would need a huge overhaul, and would seriously need to add some athleticism to this team which I think we really lack. [Post edited 12 Feb 20:56]

It is a much stronger overall squad then the squad that went up. We would clearly still have to spend quite a bit but I do think it's different. This team is getting better and if you kept a decent chunk they would step up again the lingerie are together. But we would need to add spectral quality with pace, power and ability. I wonder if we lightweight eighties goalkeeping department to be honest. I think we keep Kipre and add one quality CB to go with the 3 seniors. Matusiwa will start next season. CM, the right and CF is where the big bucks will be spent. Let's just get up.

To say they’d step up the lingerie they’re together is a load of pants imho Agreed with pace and power.

Agree on the last part. I absolutely love Matusiwa, I do question his ceiling a bit, I think we would need to change formation probably for me to be confident in him as a prem starter. Kipre is a championship defender, a very good one but I don't see a premier league player at all. I see a higher ceiling in Dara who I would have doubts over too. But as you say this is a convo for the summer if we get. Scrap that WHEN we get up.

Sunderland gambled & recruited big time overseas. Leeds also recruited 8 players from overseas. Burnley recruited 5 players from overseas but they were in the £5-8m bracket. If we go up, I suspect we will need to roll the dice overseas if we are to have any chance of staying up.

| If we achieve our pre season objective of promotion on 22:28 - Feb 12 with 1980 views | Pinewoodblue | I am sure discussions are already taking place in the corridors of power, lists being drawn and much soul searching about what could , or should, have been done differently last time. There are three former players, all with Premier League experience this season likely to be available this summer. Tuanzebe & Hutchinson face the prospect of relegation & Delap isn’t making an impact at Chelsea. Wouldn’t be against signing all three. No petty comments about not players not wanting to here. | |

It is an absolute non negotiable. We have to hit the overseas market hard, especially France. Sunderland got Diarra and Mukiele from France and they have probably been the players who have impressed me the most for them (when Diarra has played). The club have made the right steps with Matusiwa in terms of finding value from abroad, they went abroad for Egeli who its fair to say the jury is still out on, but its a start I guess. We like Agyemang who has a Premier League ceiling. Will be nice to see more of it.

I like him a lot but Kipre would get burnt in the PL, big time. We essentially have a bunch of starters who could be decent PL squad players, last time we didn't even have that. We have maybe 3 fringe starters if they had the right players around them.

Think your predictive text might have inadvertently outed your Valentine’s Day search history in that indecipherable opening paragraph…unless you genuinely think our current squad would be stepping up in their lingerie next season?

Yep. We got to the Prem and bought top Champ players to be our first team with the League One players as squad/bench players. This time around those top Champ players, plus those we've added since, become our squad and we have a good go at adding Prem quality. Sustainable growth rather than boom and bust.
| If we achieve our pre season objective of promotion on 00:27 - Feb 13 with 1699 views | armchaircritic59 | I fear you are pretty correct there, I doubt if more than around 3 or so of the current squad would be good enough, some that are still here weren't good enough last time, have any improved? Maybe Jack Clarke. I think the likes of Matusiwa and maybe Kipre have the ability, but I'd worry about their pace. Mehmeti could, but need to see more of him. JP? Not sure, certainly not away from home! Could be the odd surprise. Let's just hope we're in the position to find out! | | | |

Davis. Matusiwu. Neil (signed). Egeli. Philogene. J. Clarke. Nunez. Furlong. Mehmeti. Greaves. & Azon. Of those, potentially only 4 or 5 start as Premier League players. Harsh reality.

It is a much stronger squad... and we're tuned to play in a much more lower premier league team compatible way too. Last time it was all about gung-ho, team spirit and fire, and for half a season or so it was OK and was about the best we could have hoped for given where we'd come from, and who we'd been able to add. This time it will (hopefully) be about solidity, sh!thousery and ice - probably a necessity for a season or two to get established. C'est la vie.

I don't think we'd go for any of them, or that they'd come back, but they did help us try and stay up. They were our best players, 12 goals in the prem from Delap, if a few others repeated that we'd have possibly stayed up. All mute points, they're not coming back, but not specifically because they failed.

4 or 5 seems very ambitious to me. At a push Leif and Matusiwa (in a midfield 3). I would want to say Philogene but for all his good work at home, away he has been a non factor so I dont think that bodes well for the prem.

Walton is a better GK than Palmer, so that's another one.
