I think Rommy is correct. With every party I try to look at the things they are proposing and weigh up the good bits I like and the bad bits i dont like and then decide who I shall vote for. Im a floating voter and not a die hard for any party. There is one thing I do agree with from Reform and that is stop the boats as everyone knows but that is about it. I could never vote for Farage. He would bring this country to its knees. The biggest charlatan we have in British politics by a long way.
| The split in the far-right vote on 07:16 - Feb 18 with 2163 views | JackNorthStand | I’m not sure it was a positive move for Farage to take in so many Tory defectors to reform. Especially when the main draw for most people is that reform are marketing themselves on promising something different and an alternative to the same old. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You realise ‘stop the boats’ is about stopping ‘that type’ (poor and of no use to them) of foreigner coming here? It’s not a humanitarian suggestion because they feel overwhelming concern for the wellbeing of refugees. Quite the opposite - they’re wanting to abandon refugees because they’re not white Brits. They have no practical, workable solution. So no, “everyone” is not on board with Reform’s use of xenophobia and racism to win votes. I’m certainly not.

You think Farage cares about Reform? I doubt he even wants to be PM. More likely he will play it out for another year or two then engineer and exit and go back to grifting on the circuit where the money is. Trying to put forward other people who can carry Reform like he did yesterday seems to be the first step. SB

Benters, I know you see yourself as a patriot so I'm curious as to how you reconcile that with supporting a party whose leader and members would have been on the side of the fascists back in the 30s. Farage and his ilk were the sort of people who'd have been pushing for us to form an alliance with Hitler, not go to war with him. This isn't fantasy stuff either, we had the likes of Oswald Moseley who were politically close to someone like Farage in terms of beliefs. We had the Blackshirts, violent thugs hiding behind "marches" to cause disorder, similar to the EDL types and those "protesting" (AKA rioting) after the Southport tragedy. You had the Daily Mail and the ancestor of its current owner cheering all this on from the sidelines, just as they do now for Farage and Reform's politics. I'm curious as to how you manage to see yourself as a patriot while also supporting a party that is far-right when our country has a proud history of standing up to the far-right, not ushering them into power.

Especially given his jewish friends from the other thread and what would likely have happened to them. Any thoughts Benters?

I doubt he has the ability to intelligently respond to this. My bet is he wont even try. [Post edited 18 Feb 10:48]

I gave you upvote for your recognition that Farage is a charlatan who would undoubtedly crash the economy of this country And literally no one should be on an inflatable dingy trying to cross the Channel in order to seek asylum here

The Grumbleweeds. Prime time Saturday tv in the 80s. And they say that telly isn't as good as it used to be.....

Quite. Inflatables are a silly idea anyway as the French police keep slashing them. They should give them pedalos. I’ve belatedly seen what the OP meant. Obviously nobody should have to resort to those measures and we’re stupid to be providing a lucrative business opportunity for smugglers. What annoys me is that nobody seems to be talking about doing anything to halt the flow of refugees in the first place. It’s no good putting buckets under a leaky tap, just fix the faulty washer. Easier said than done when the faulty washer is a conflict in a foreign land, but we should be using our international influence and aid budgets to try and encourage/pressure regimes into not making millions of refugees.
