Already been here 4 weeks ffs. Visa runs out soon, though the local govt apparently gave everyone an extra 2 weeks (unconfirmed but rumoured)

There's been an oil spill too, plus rescued sailors and one Iranian ship docked and surrendered.

Petrol panic buying and now gas panic buying too.

Lovely place but in an inter connected world plenty of locals will be missing out on an income as tourists can't or won't visit via. Middle East.

Would imagine similar issues.in Thailand, Bali, Maldives etc. are possible.

Still, Iran war must all be sorted now, i saw Hesgeth ranting the other day so presume it's all over now...

Ah, fair enough. Hopefully you get sorted out soon.

Yes, there’ll be lots of places missing out on tourism. And a lot of them will be some of the poorer countries that can’t afford. Cyprus’ bookings are down too for slightly different reasons, and I see the locals are protesting as they don’t want to be a target by hosting our bases there. I don’t blame them!

Shandy Bass and Top Deck were basically gateway drugs, weren't they?

Yep, Top Deck as a lot to answer for.

Wonder what percentage of kids with a soft spot for Top Deck or Shandy Bass were hitting the Mad Dog 20/20 a few years later?

Or shotgunning cans of Crucial Brew in the Car park behind Londis?

A week ago when I was rearranging hotels for an unplanned extra week a yank told me she was rerouting as she was scared to fly via Athens. She thought Cyprus was in Greece.

I couldn't even take the p*ss as a young Lagos might have once ordered Greek drachmas for a trip to Aya Napa before someone pointed out my stupidity.

Reminds me of a friend who went into a shop in Paphos in the early 80s and asked if they had any Turkish Delight. He was genuinely looking to buy some, but has always said he was lucky to get out of the shop alive

A love letter to Carlsberg Special Brew.

I have a fond memories (or lost memories!) of it when camping in Durness 40 years ago.

Im thinking something a decent size, made from thick concrete, buried under my lawn.

Maybe big enough for 8 or 9 people.

Might not be much use if you believe the reports the Yanks have been storing nukes at Lakenheath.

Hence the phrase 'undue negativity', I think in that circumstance it would be acceptable.

You won’t need a bunker, you will be in Iran or the Ukraine fighting. You don’t think you get to sit at home do you ? Every bloke will get called up, because we don’t have any armed forces to fight a war. It will be a full scale civilian call up. Was told that from someone very very high up about 8 months ago.

Come on Swanners surely yer not suggesting yer never drank MD20/20 ( Mad dog) as a teenager? Never had you down as a Ice Dragon/White Lightning man?

Shotgunning cans of Crucial Brew behind Londis may have been more of a Haverhill sport that I should perhaps explain further.
It involved tossing cans of Crucial Brew/Special Brew high up into the air and allowing um to smash onto floor of the car park. Hopefully forcing it to burst open from a small hole in can. The lucky owner of said can then runs over to collect his can, which is semi spinning around and spurting its golden liquid and foam everywhere through the small hole. The can is picked up and the hole is placed in front of mouth allowing for the liquid inside to be sprayed at high speed into mouth. Allowing you to consume a full can ( well the 80% that remains) of otherwise rotten super strength beer in seconds..

Then repeat
Haverhills kids were very bored
