| Come on people! This is a promotion drive - fans and team in it together! 17:32 - Mar 14 with 2088 views | unstableblue | Half time comments on the forum were ridiculous And even now it’s all peppered with we should have played better!! We won! We scored two goals, should have had more. We’ve gained in all our rivals. I think people thought we’d just have to turn up and win 4-0! Sheff Weds put up a good fight, a good press. There last hole results were 1-1 Watford 1-3 Saints 1-2 Millwall 0-1 Wrexham Great cross and goal for Azon. Better performance from Clarke Philogene back Neil improved Matusiwa immense and has escaped the ban | |

Large amounts of empty seats… I get times are tough, and Boro have had a very lean time… but surely you’ve got to be filling the stadium more Going to quite an atmosphere on Saturday, despite the 12.30

IF it happens we will sort out the weak areas in the squad again in the summer. Time to worry about performances will be the start of next season.

So, you are happy with the way we have plodded in the first half of the last half dozen matches ? No urgency, paces,or aggression. Before long we really will get our backsides kicked, because we don’t start playing until after half time, and not even then today.

Millwall went there last month and were worse. 1-0 down after 70 mins. Only you could find a negative when literally everything went right today [Post edited 14 Mar 19:05]

The last half a dozen matches: 4 wins, 2 draws, 14 points, 12 for, 4 against. Played well at Watford, home against Swansea and Hull (who played mass defence), very well second half against Leicester. I thought we were poor against Stoke and I’ve yet to see today’s game. In other words it’s called sport. You cannot play well every single minute of every single game in the real world. Who is to say that against better teams that might just want to play we won’t cut them up as we did Coventry? Personally, I wish we were battering everyone 5-0. But we are not. But if you take the last 6 games (as you have), it could be a lot worse. But hey, you be you and extract whatever misery and negativity you can. You are not alone.

I'd like to think so, but IMO it won't be. Portman Road hasn't been rocking for any game this season. Even the Norwich match was pretty subdued compared to other derbies.
| Come on people! This is a promotion drive - fans and team in it together! on 11:08 - Mar 15 with 919 views | wischip | By my calculations if we win all our remaining games it doesn't matter what other teams do, we're up! Come on, then, let's do this. | | | |
| Come on people! This is a promotion drive - fans and team in it together! on 11:24 - Mar 15 with 899 views | J2BLUE | So many people who have been watching football all their lives don't seem to understand the game at all. If the best team on paper always won there would be no point playing the games. Boro, Millwall, Man City and very nearly Arsenal were all frustrated by opponents they should be beating (on paper). This belief that we should be playing total football and dominating games for 90 minutes is just not realistic. A couple of years ago Sheff Wed battled us for promotion. Now they are heading back down and we are fighting to go up again. They were never going to rollover for a game like that. Football matches are 90+ minutes. There will always be periods where other teams have a bit of the ball and create some chances. The margins are incredibly fine. Look at Boro. Edmundson came on. Five minutes later he accidentally headed the ball out for a corner and Bristol City equalise. Half a step back or a slightly better connection or the keeper being slightly faster would have prevented that corner and then Bristol City don't score. It will largely come down to being better over the course of a game. People losing their minds every time we go 15 minutes not being the better team is not helping anyone. Look at the interviews the manager and team are giving. They are subtly saying be patient and support us. | |

It's a two way street. This team has had top 2 form since game 11 of this season but they are frequently called out, have their bottle and effort questioned, told they are playing sh1t and that they should be steamrolling everyone we play. The connection is as much down to the fans as anything else. There are times when a win with a clean sheet is not considered good enough. Unfortunately a small but increasingly vocal minority have become everything we used to mock (Derty/Leeds entitlement). [Post edited 15 Mar 13:19]

I thought Stoke away the fans were good as you say and a few home games. But we need that all the time now for this final push Think the fan base is expecting an identikit championship promotion to last time, and I get the frustration with the pace of our play - but that has a lot to do with the shapes and press we are playing against.

Unfortunately People pay good money to be entertained, and footballers get paid good money to supply that entertainment, the Fans feed off what’s happening on the pitch, and at the moment it’s very slow and sloppy. I dont think it’s got Anything to do with entitlement at all.

Well actually, I’d say that they are paid to win games, promotions and trophies. The entertainment is a byproduct in sport, and what one person considers as entertainment can be very different to what another considers to be entertainment.

The trouble is too many so called supporters loathe the team, are bored with the manager and think Ashton is the devil because some Bristol knuckle dragger told them so five years ago. Players are hated largely because they cost fees and our finest cannot get their head around it. Yet another thread on Egeli today. He cost money so in the boot goes. No context, no realism, just tear him up. Support him? Nah, far more productive to destroy his confidence. He actually didn’t play that badly yesterday, given the job he was asked to do. You wouldn’t know it from a lot of posts on here, we actually won the game. ‘Only SW who have won once all season’. How arrogant and patronising is that? You’ve still got to beat them and get the job done. Top of the haters list of course is Hirst. Even when the bloke scores the goal that should have won the game last week, it wasn’t good enough. Should have hit it cleaner. So in other words, he’s toast whatever he does. It so much easier from the armchair or the computer. While support at PR has actually been ok recently, too many people ache to be proven right and want them to fail. Millwall have proper support and I suspect from a noise perspective it’ll be a bit of a home game for them next week. Let’s hope we can get a result, if only to keep Darkhorse under his rock for another week or two and the national grid from overloading from all those washing machines thumping away Sunday morning.
