No, but some of his proposals would involve deporting legal immigrants. He proposes scrapping indefinite right to remain, so a player who may want to settle into retirement in Suffolk after hanging up their boots could have problems. And they’re planning to cut back on the rights of any dependents and deport some people on work visas.
Plus their plans to deport an extra nearly 300,000 foreigners a year would cripple many industries and deprive the treasury of about £30BN per year, cumulatively. Provisional estimates of net migration for this year are down to about 150k inflow. So they want to reduce the population year on year, leaving fewer and fewer workers to pay for more and more elderly = tax raises for all or fk the elderly/ill/young/disabled/vulnerable/general population who use publicly funded services. The sums don’t add up unless life gets worse for us.
It’ll be open season on immigrants, although that will require us to leave the ECHR first as their proposals are currently illegal (oh, the irony). And obviously the rest of us have our rights watered down then. Happy days, eh? |  |
