Apologies? How we he fixes it? Resign, or be fired. Ashton has made himself the story, and the whole story about ITFC. And at a time when we needed to focus on the field ffs. It's no good fans saying get over it move on or whatever and get behind the team. It's too big a deal. If you don't feel that, of course that's fine. Everyone has different perspectives and priorities.

I'd like to think Farage fans would support those os us who are mighty pissed off with the club affiliating with a political party. Sure, Farage is more divisive than most politicians and that can't be ignored, but it's not the issue here. It is outrageous to allow any national party, at a time of elections, to use ITFC to promote themselves.

I'm not one to be histrionic or dramatic (generally, arf) as those on here for the last twenty five years will attest to. But I'm still seething about how this tosser has subverted the values of not just the club but British football. It is a fooking scandal.

Most of these " farage" supporters have no affiliation at all with itfc they have been attracted by the s#it flying about the club.

And an actual apology would be something like -

"I/we have made a mistake, it shouldnt have happened, and I apologise for splitting the fanbase (even more, arf!)"

But no. "I'm sorry some fans are upset." Classic non apology.

In any case an apology ain't good enough. It's gross incompetence and in any normal job he'd be fired.

My view, FWIW, pretty much matches yours, however I would add another factor.

The way this has panned out looks to me like Ashtons had a proper kicking from the board, and told to get out and apologise, which leads me to the conclusion that he’ll be gone on the summer, whatever happens. I don’t think the board would want more disruption ahead of the last 8 games, nor do I think they want a vacancy at this point, unless it really can’t be avoided.

The investors have made the mistake of relying on MA as their “football man”, allowing a dual CEO/Chairman role ( never good governance) and it will take time to find a replacement. Should we get promoted then the pool in which we’ll be fishing will be larger,

Ashton has done what so many successful people do, believed their own publicity, thought they could do no wrong and will now pay the price, reducing all his not inconsiderable achievements to dust.

Surely it would be more along the lines of:

It was wrong to allow this club to be used as a propaganda vehicle for a divisive politician. I should not have allowed that, and should nto have allowed my personal allegiances to affect my professional judgment and guardianship of the club. This is what actually happened... [add facts]. etc etc

He is still minimising it saying "mistakes were made" and that untruths are still out there , without being specific.

Rubbish apology! Said nothing really, it was a bit like one of those I’m sorry if you felt that way apologies.

I thought he was fine before, but he should go, or very minimum, have a chairman come in above him.

There are also a lot of non Farage supporters (like myself) who really do just want to move on and put this sorry episode behind us.

I get the upset, but going over and over and over it is not helping anyone.

Decent post by you though, but then I’d expect nothing less.

If it comes to that so be it.

My preference would be for an experienced CEO with a figurehead appointment as Chairman, someone with a strong Ipswich connection. Sheepy is probably too old but if you want an outlandish suggestion Mat Holland or our Sponsor.

How have you reached that conclusion? We have no idea what has been said. If they were that p***ed, he would already be gone as they would want to make a statement or cause any more potential issues. none of us know, just like none of us know if Kieran ever has talked to other clubs

The team (ie the players and staff) are, according to several reports, every bit as angry and upset at what’s happened as the fans on here that you disagree with. So how do you expect them to perform at their best on the pitch? We all know from life experience that we don’t carry out tasks as well as usual when we’re angry/upset like that.

So we might “move on” - but not in the successful way that I’m sure you want.

Better to cut out the infection & get cleansed, then things can properly heal. You wouldn’t want gangrene.

I want to be able to put this in the past and move on too. I want Ashton and the club to learn and be better.

Ashton’s apology video gave me no confidence that we’re in a position to put this in the past though.

It was call centre standard response to a parcel marked breakable that was chucked over my back gate. Fans, sponsors, employees, players, investors all deserve much better.

Now tell me if you were a potential investor in ITFC would you be confident investing in the organisation led by the man in that video?

It is quite clear online today that the matter isn't resolved. Last nights poorly constructed video seems to have made things worse if anything. Ashton should just go now.

The way I'm feeling about all this at the moment, I'm not sure I'll make our remaining home games. Seeing that awful c*** Farage posing with a Town shirt in our changing room, in front of our pitch, and plastering it all over social media, then Ashton and the club handling the fall out so, so badly. It is sitting very, very, very badly with me.

Personally, I wouldn’t let that utter c-unit ruin the end of my season. Nor Ashton. We’ve had crap owners/staff before and we kept going (well, some of us did). The club, team and supporters are worth more than anyone who temporarily holds the reins.

But I understand the anger and can appreciate some people might wish to show their annoyance through their absence (can I have your ST please? :))

I can only imagine you were one of those who thought Boris apologies for partying over covid were fine. That was essentially the textbook that Ashton copied from for his apology. Apologise but don't make it clear what for or why.

Good for you that you can ignore these things but many can't and don't want to.

That's the pivotal part for me.

It's one thing giving that non-apology to the fans but, given how upset players and staff are reported to have been, it would be a very high-risk tactic indeed to spin that line to those who are directly responsible for the success of the club.

Maybe the playing staff will have been given a little extra insight - Ashton gone in the summer, for instance?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Your first sentence is your usual drivel, but your final sentence is key.

Some of us have forgiven Ashton and are moving on, which is our decision and right, others, like you, won’t forgive him and may choose to boycott games, which is your right.

I just don’t get what post after post about it all on here is for…. Or in your case, dig after dig at everyone that disagrees with you.

And yes I know, you and Herbie and the others will now downvote… it’s what you do.

Please.

We could make a day of it.

I could come over to yours, you could do us both a full English. Few beers at Curve, I’ll go to the game, you wait for me in the park and in then in the evening, we could go to the pictures.

At least give it some thought.
