I'm currently acting CEO for a national charity, while my colleague is on maternity leave. Nothing has burnt down yet, we've got some big structural things happening and I'm overseeing the construction of an 800m² art gallery near Tate Modern that opens in may. AND I've not invited Farage into the organisation. I'm happy to give it a go.

Have you thought about inviting Corbyn in?

Might be worth it just to see the reaction as a parting gift before they appoint a new CEO.

I can't even bring myself to go now.

You, Blooters, BA bods, etc. were right all along. As were those salty Brizzle fans.

Foomin' ba.

The owners are culpable as well. Unless Ashton is removed post haste the owners are in as deep as the sh1t he spouts. It's a fooking scandal. The fact the video and all the promotional stuff is still out there speaks volumes about OUR club's stance. Because there are plenty of legal grounds for cease and desist.

I'm fooking seething, still. And all these fans saying who cares it's nothing it doesn't matter. What the fooking hell? Putin stooge boot lickers. And if not they are even worse. The people who do or say nothing enable the sh1t that is happening in the world.

ITFC is a FOOTBALL CLUB. When we walk through those turnstiles we are one. Political and ideological differences are left outside. We cheer and cry as one. We hug strangers with polar opposite beliefs, just as we fight or argue with strangers we may have everything in common with without knowing.

ITFC are endorsing a political party and while that continues I won't be supporting these egregious rotten owners and a megolomaniac CEO who is beneath contempt.

GET THE FOOK OUT OF OUR CLUB.

Well I don't particularly care, but wouldn't classify myself as a 'putin stooge boot licker' (or indeed 'even worse').
That's not very polite, is it.

My thoughts are along the lines of most people's, I think. Totally unnecessary self-inflicted mess, should never have got involved with Reform in any shape or form, should never have allowed their social media team in.

And then they made the situation even worse with the obfuscation and misrepresentation of what happened. As so often, the cover-up is probably causing as much if not more damage than the original offence.

Apology clearly hasn't drawn a line under the matter as would have been the intention as it was vague and avoided addressing or answering any of the remaining questions. Among them, following James Pearce's message suggesting a meeting between MA and NF at some neutral venue, how the visit came about, whether there was subsequently an invite to the club. Why it was felt necessary to gift shirts, why a signed one was evidently requested.

There's clearly been a breakdown in trust between the larger part of the fanbase, players, sponsors, staff and the wider community and the club's senior management and it's difficult to see how it will be restored.

I have been away on holiday so haven't posted on this so far, but think your comments are spot on Phil. I would like to know the full facts of how and why this happened, and for there to be accountability. It feels like fans have been lied to. I also would like to see a Chairman appointed, independent of the Chief Executive.

Only just seen your post Frimley, sorry.

This is exactly why the club's reputation is in tatters until he's gone.

Mr Ham, you have made my weekend. Thank you! The prospect of an hour's less sleep now seems insignificant.

I honestly think his position is untenable now which is such a shame and so thoroughly avoidable. 100% it is the lies, gaslighting, cover-up and ultimately non-apology that has pushed me over the edge. I do believe the situation, whilst massively ill-advised, was rescuable earlier in the week. It's just been a series of inexplicable actions.
[Post edited 28 Mar 23:45]

I agree it was rescuable (to a reasonable extent anyway) for a few days afterwards, and many of us were screaming out for first Ashton and then, when it became too late for him, for the club ownership to take those necessary steps to protect and start to rehabilitate our Ipswich Town.

That they didn't and now really can't is inexcusable for many of us.

There's a stain on this club now that won't be washed out for a lifetime, if not for longer. It will fade, but it will still be there.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

One thing that is noticeable is that the club essentially cannot use their social media accounts atm.

Every post is met by hundreds of far right bots posting obscene images. I feel for our media team who are super talented and do a lot of good work and had no idea this Farage thing was happening.

Its unfortunate, but I hope the issue helps the club realise why this has caused such a sh*t storm and why so many people are incensed and that useless way of an apology last week from Ashton won't cut it.

This won't simply go away. It has caused considerable dmage to the brand and image of the club, and that ukltimately is the responsibility of Ashton.

No wonder the sponsors are seething, if any of those are having simiar issues with their social media they are going serioulsy unhappy.

"or worse" refers to folk who don't make a stance, who think things don't matter or that any stance they do make won't make any difference. It's not meant as an insult really. Just the way it is these days, or probs forever in the UK. Apathy innit.

Reminds me of the Karl Wallinger lyric "The best lack all conviction, and the worst is yet to come. You got to pick the politican up, kick his bum!"

I regret posting in anger. "Putin stooge boot licker" is indeed impolite. I apologise. Obviously not all Farage supporters are necessarily licking his boots, metaphorically I mean. This kind of exemplifies the point about Ashton's gaffe, and how emotive and angry Farage makes people. Something he absolutely thrives on. And I stand by my anger with Ashton and the club. Utter knobend to make the club a political football. Whatever the stripe.

Not exactly the friendliest welcome for someone new to the place. Imagine arriving on a far away message board only to be treated with suspicion and aggression, even if you entered here legally. Then to be accused of things you haven't done or thought. Luckily none of that has happened here.

It's a (generally) anonymous* forum Glassers. I took Tambers' comment in that spirit. I.e. we don't know each other and it's a board for everyone, old and young, old and new. What indeed has happened to me? You don't need to know me very well (here or in the wider world) to respond as they did :)

The second biggest problem with open message boards is lack of eye contact. It means you can't discuss sh1t with normal interactivity... nuance; context; interruption; tactility.

The biggest problem is *anonymity. Man, if you had to use your real name it would be sooo different. TWTD would still be great. Platforms like Twitter and FaceMook would make a lot less money. They are nasty, bad egregious people who own those fookers.

Thank you

Fully respect those who feel strongly enough to put their perspective across (usually!) but all too easy to shrug and wander into the 'it won't make any difference' trap.

I’ll be amazed if we have a back of shirt sponsor again after that farage pic

It's likely, this fiasco will prove to have a significant negative effect on existing and future sponsors, players, fans, employees, ownership groups and foundation participants. Ashton needs to properly take responsibility and apologise or go
He has done a lot of damage at the most critical time of the season.
