Again, I would be surprised if Matchday Images/Richard Calver does not keep his copyright. I would expect he licences the images to ITFC, as it's industry standard, and usually that would proclude third party usage outside of meditation or promotion of the licencee etc. Obviously I'm not privvy to contracts, but certainly image examples on his website from various clubs he retains the copyright. Anyway, this is a digression. But it is a thing that bothers me as my husband is a photographer, I studied it at Masters level, and there are very strict rights around photographic images that many people just don't follow. Regardless. Reform obviously asked nobody for permissions and they think it's hilarious. And that's exactly what that would do to many more people on a greater level, with greater consequences, if they get any power. [Post edited 28 Mar 22:37]

I would LOVE a Phil Ham opinion piece right about now. For obvious reasons, we will never see one, but a man can dream.

I find it a little frustrating Phil's reluctance to be a bit more vocal, but then I recall him getting banned by Lambert. It is the guys income/job. Shows what an utter cnit Lambert was to do that.

Oh the ire should be directed at Ashton, but from the whole fanbase. Instead you got people saying “he’s done so much good” “where would we be without him” No. He’s brought the club in to disrepute. I can’t look at social media without a post related to reform and Ipswich. The club aren’t even tweeting from the main account because every reply is the squad photoshopped on to Nazis. People don’t seem to care for accountability anymore and it makes me sick.

If it makes you feel better, in this horrible car crash of a situation, Mark "doing the right thing when no one is looking" Ashton may not care for accountability, but there have been plenty here who do seem to, and whilst they may not shout the loudest, they are definitely here. In this divisive situation we are currently living through, I've even seen some long time adversaries coming together on the same side of this.

I’ve certainly taken some positivity in the amount of people speaking up about it. But it’s all just hit me today how angry I am about this. I’ve had a day off my phone and checked it late this evening and seen the edited photos among other things. This isn’t going away and that just makes me so angry.

Entirely agree re Reform's misuse and the way photos are often used without permissions. Frustrating to see photos we've paid for used on social media! We actually use Matchday Images as well and I think there is a distinction between photos taken specifically for the club, which are theirs to do what they want with, and their freelance images which they retain the rights to.

I'm with you there. I've come out of a 10 year hiatus on this board because of it. I'm sure the culture wars will send me off again for another 10 years, but in the meantime, what has happened at the top of our club over this past week has been nothing short of a disgrace

My thoughts are along the lines of most people's, I think. Totally unnecessary self-inflicted mess, should never have got involved with Reform in any shape or form, should never have allowed their social media team in. And then they made the situation even worse with the obfuscation and misrepresentation of what happened. As so often, the cover-up is probably causing as much if not more damage than the original offence. Apology clearly hasn't drawn a line under the matter as would have been the intention as it was vague and avoided addressing or answering any of the remaining questions. Among them, following James Pearce's message suggesting a meeting between MA and NF at some neutral venue, how the visit came about, whether there was subsequently an invite to the club. Why it was felt necessary to gift shirts, why a signed one was evidently requested. There's clearly been a breakdown in trust between the larger part of the fanbase, players, sponsors, staff and the wider community and the club's senior management and it's difficult to see how it will be restored.

Mr Ham, you have made my weekend. Thank you! The prospect of an hour's less sleep now seems insignificant. I honestly think his position is untenable now which is such a shame and so thoroughly avoidable. 100% it is the lies, gaslighting, cover-up and ultimately non-apology that has pushed me over the edge. I do believe the situation, whilst massively ill-advised, was rescuable earlier in the week. It's just been a series of inexplicable actions. [Post edited 28 Mar 23:45]

Very well put Phil. Plenty of posters who are having a pop at everyone who they think are overeacting and say that we should move on should read this and take a moment to understand its not a case of just moving on. Some kind of action needs to be taken, its unacceotabel that has happened and was allowed to happen. Kieran's next press conference is going to be very interesting...I bet he's dreading it, I feel for him.

That's a tricky one. Whilst, 100% I want the local press to be holding the club to account, I hope they concentrate on the game with KMac. What is going on above him is not his battle. I'm sure the nationals will have other ideas.

oh i completely agree. I hope it isn't brought up as much as i want to hear what he thinks about it, but it clearly will be. Probably best thing for him is to say he'll only take questions regarding the game and the squad but there is going to be more eyes and ears than ever on this particular press conference and he may find it difficult not to let his emotions come out, especially if there are cracks in his relationship with Ashton.

"the obfuscation and misrepresentation of what happened. As so often, the cover-up is probably causing as much if not more damage than the original offence." It was MA's comment "I also understand that there are a number of mistruths out there on what's actually happened this week" that really got me - when all he actually needed to do was state the facts of what happened, then there wouldn't have been any 'mistruths'. It's not just the self-interest, the lies, the deviousness, the lack of integrity and foresight in thinking through the consequences to all concerned with the good name of ITFC of his actions - it's his sheer stupidity and lack of spine in not taking obvious, sensible measures. That alone makes him unfit to remain as CEO or Chair at this or any other decent club or organisation in my book. [Post edited 29 Mar 2:35]

Although you’re missing out the racist charlatan who used our club by only getting angry in only one direction. It’s Farage who’s used us and has been stirring on their social media. There needs to be some contempt thrown his way too imo. Totally agree on fans sticking together though. Farage thrives on the division. Let’s not let him.
