It's not your club. It never was. We were here long before you, and we will certainly be here after you've gone. We just won't be here while you are still here. Have some decency and sod off.

He’s not going anywhere.

No matter every individual’s opinion (and I can’t stand Farage and what he stands for), as far as the club and MA are concerned, it’s done.

They would rather concentrate on winning the promotion battle we’re in the middle of.

The club aren't blind. They must know it is far from over with.

The shame is that it can never be taken away. That image will stay around as long as the ones of Delia in her Town scarf and drunkenly ranting on the pitch.

But the club must realise this will go on for at least as long as Ashton remains at the club.

We were doing so well before he came too and if it’s ok with you I will be in my seat at the next game with the others who cheering on the lads not given a toss about a small visit to the club.

That's good of you.

Are you happy that the national media around the world see us as the football club of Farage? Are you happy that came at the club's instigation and with its blessing?

Fair enough, if you are, as long as you would be equally happy if it was Corbyn FC. And at least try to understand why many other fans are absolutely not happy to be.

I think you are probably correct, and in the interests of not sowing more divisiveness than has already been sown, I'm making it a point not to start new threads about this (not a criticism of others at all, there are just plenty starting threads that I can get involved in).

But I totally appreciate that many think that it is far from done (whilst others think it really is).

Ultimately we all want the same thing. The best for ITFC.

I agree with your last paragraph entirely.

As for your penultimate one (whilst I agree those people exist), on what basis do they think this? We are now forever Farage FC and so let's suck it up?

I'm certainly not saying I agree! However, I respect the right for anyone to hold the opinion they want, no matter how unpalatable I may find it.

My preference would always be that they can articulate that opinion, keep an open mind, and be able to debate it, as I try (but often fail) to strive for. Sadly, I also realise that I live in the real world.

Not saying it’s right or wrong. But he won’t be going anywhere, certainly not in the short term. Long term maybe. But the football club - which in my mind is the primary focus - has eight huge games to play … possibly eleven. So, any disruption to that would not be helpful. I get that some people would argue MA has already disrupted it, but protesting or a chair/CEO leaving prior to the huge game against Birmingham is not at all helpful. For me, this is no longer about politics but what’s in the best interests of ITFC. Appreciate everyone will have an opinion on that, but simply can’t see the board acting this side of the season end.

The only way that it’s even close to done with him staying is if he keeps an incredibly low profile for the rest of the season and doesn’t turn up at games.

The first time he becomes visible it’s going to get very heated and fractious - see protest planned for Monday.

Can you genuinely imagine him hosting another fans forum for example? There will be half calling him a cnt and half clapping him.

He is now completely toxic and I think you’re away with the fairies if you think it’s done and we’re all going to be moving on.

I'm wondering if it will finally sink in for Mark Ashton when the games restart.

If we believe this will fizzle out and we can move on, I think we're being naive as Birmingham, Norwich and others will have plenty to sing about and say.

This may be what embarrasses Ashton the most, if his ego lets him.

I understand that a proportion of people want to move on and others want to protest, but let's just hold fire on 'moving on' until we see if we are treated as a right wing apologist club by the opposition fans at every game this season. I can't see us having a collective response to their chants when it all kicks off. Maybe nothing will happen at all?

Whatever sides we sit on I think we can collectively agree, this episode will rumble on whether we like it or not. It's not in our hands.

Agreed.

The bloke is completely toxic now - look at the various posts on here, multiple uppies multiple downies...

He is as polarizing as Farage now and that for me makes his position totally untenable.

What's the meeting that takes place at the end of the season where people get to ask questions? Shareholders meeting? Whatever it is I'd be delighted if someone asked him 'what is a club?'

The post the other day about someone's child not knowing if they're welcome anymore was as damming as it was upsetting.

We've also had Reform appropriating Louise Cobbold's art skills.

There will be many other such instances. Experiences that go very much against the history and values of this club. They need addressing and apologising for

Personally politically apathetic having lived for many years outside the country (28+ years in the Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore)

BUT

I absolutely hate the idea of Ashton remaining, what a weasel of a man

No integrity no shame no accountability

I don’t think anyone would tolerate being taken for a fool and being lied to right, so why should anyone still back Ashton?

In the corporate world if I made such a bloomin feck up and was caught lying about it, it’s a guaranteed dismissal regardless of past performance

So why should Ashton be so special?

Which is why it needs to be made absolutely clear to them that it is.

Then we can move on once he has gone.

The fact that Easter Monday v Brum looks to be approaching a sell out will send them another message I'm afraid.

It will be interesting to see (assuming he is still in place by then):

How many attend vs how many empty seats.

How many vocalise any dissent with chants like Ashton out.

Maybe it is only a few on here and a number of the employees including playing staff who have an issue with it.

It'll be full I imagine. And the reception any protest gets will be illuminating. Hard to tell from six days away what that will be.

You should change your name to Ostrich Blue. Keep burying your head in the sand to what Farage and Reform are about.

Yes but the message the full stadium might send is: "We want Ashton out, say we want Ashton out!". Boycotting probably isn't the best way to find closure right now.

That would be my worry. That the club think it is done. Then we have a problem. Lets face it they are American. They probably see Farage as a centralist establishment politician. Nothing controversial compared to the orange-faced loon in the White House.
