But to me it's ridiculous to suggest gifting someone some shirts, however ill-advised, automatically means an endorsement of racism. There aren’t many things more pathetic than someone claiming they’re not allowed an opinion - immediately after posting several opinions. For what it’s worth, it took me all of five minutes to pull together some of your greatest hits, but if you’d like a longer compilation I’m more than happy to oblige.
As for your claim that most of your comments have been “right at the time”, I’d love to hear which ones you’re hanging your hat on. No chance of top two? Won't even reach 56 points? If you spend an entire season writing the team off and criticising at every turn, then you are in fact less of a supporter. There's actually another word for that sort of thing - detractor. You and your ilk are the detractor boys.
The most remarkable thing about all of this is that you have spent a considerable amount of time criticising anybody you deem to be a 'happy clapper', but on this issue you are shouting other people down for having an opinion and telling them to move on and blindly support the team, all without any sense of irony whatsoever. I never changed from anything. I never cared if he stayed or went. At the time I thought he would have to go,but as time wore on it was obvious he wasn’t. He may still leave in the summer, then you will be happy? One thing I have always said,and did at the time is he should never have been made chairman as well as CEO. It's not a huge stretch. The Farage 10 shirts are a clear reference to Farage being PM, it's not that Conor Chaplin is his favourite player. He was gifted those shirts and allowed to be photographed with them in the changing room and by the pitch with ITFC logos everywhere and allowed to post those pictures all over social media. If that's not an endorsement, what is it? |
I've explained what it is. I also know what happened, so not sure why you need to list it all again.
I still don't think, IMHO, it means that the club endorses racism. The club have embarked on lots of anti-racism initiatives, they pay vast sums to people of all different cultures, and they have banned individuals for racist language. I think you can quite confidently say Ashton's been stupid, I don't think it's fair to say ITFC endorses racism. |  |

I think it's a bit unfair to suggest I'm not thinking.
I do think you have to be careful not to label everything racist as you diminish the message of true racism. As Glassers has done before when suggesting someone who goes on the same stage as someone who has written racist views is therefore themselves racist. It's a leap.
You can call out what the club/Ashton have done. You can say Farage has racist views. I don't think donating some shirts to curry favour with a politician constitutes a racist act, or endorses racism. Farage has lots of unsavoury views, not just racist ones, so I don't think you can single out one particular view and suggest that's the one the club are endorsing. I don't think a gift necessarily endorses anything. | |
