Don't get sucked in the way I used to Herbs. You'll be chained to this thread for the next five weeks. And God help you if you don't reply within a certain time frame.

Still commenting about me even though you have me on ignore and can't presumably read what I've written?

And the idea I was sucking you in and you were completely innocent in our debates is hilarious. Let's not forget you were banned for abuse against me.

Me and Herbs were actually having a fairly civil debate as it goes.

I've explained several times in this thread why I see it as an endorsement. There's a reason all those memes of Deportman Road cropped up online within minutes of Reform tweeting Farage gurning with a Farage 10 Town shirt by our pitch and in our changing room. You disagree and you're very entitled to, but I stand by the arguments I've outlined in this thread.

Fair enough. I think that sort of thing was because it was an international break and people were bored. Some of the reactions and predictions were hysterical. Several posters popped up and made their whole TWTD identity about that one issue and I just searched a few names...the most vocal have not been back since the promised mass protests failed to appear.

You could say exactly the same about those justifying or downplaying the club sucking up to a racist grifter and then lying about it. Plenty of rarely seen posters appeared who have slunk away again on that side of the argument too.

I was going to respond but herbs had already pointed out what I was going to say.

I think that's the second time this week your bias, conscious it otherwise has shown.

Not meant as a dig, just something to ponder when you keep making points about the left leaning posters on the forum whilst excluding exactly the same thing happening from the other side.

Disagree. My post is in the context of going back and forth with certain posters who claimed three quarters (later two thirds) of Town fans wanted Ashton out. I explained why I thought that wasn't the case and why it would largely be forgotten very soon. That is exactly what has happened.

There were plenty of people on the right who reacted just as poorly saying it didn't matter and people should shut up. It was clearly a huge mistake from Ashton.

I think the vast majority of people would much rather Farage had not stepped foot in PR but I also think it's becoming less of a factor to the fan base as a whole with each passing day.

That's nothing like what you wrote though or what was being discussed.

You wrote that one side of the debate made a huge fuss, you did that whilst ignoring the fact the other side of the debate were very quick to play it down. You then said the people making a fuss aren't posting whilst not acknowledging that the people who were playing it down are also not posting.

Do you think your signature is helpful when discussing bias with regards to both sides of the debate?

It’s just a shame there’s not much of a left left, otherwise it would mean something. I do like Jonathan Pie though. We should be able to critically appraise our politicians irrespective of their party. We don’t have a significant left party to critique, but maybe the Greens could fill that void (unlikely imo) and maybe Plaid here in Wales (more likely than Greens across UK). I don’t know about the virtue signalling but; that sounds like bollox, but whatever.

I do find it staggering the lengths you're going to in order to excuse the club endorsing a racist grifter like Farage, but there we go. As I said, we're not going to agree on this.

I’ve got the fella blocked as I find him too much, couldn’t deal with the way he goes on and on and never lets anything go- I don’t need to see his side of the conversation to know that nothings changed, interesting turn of events to have him sticking for a quasi fascist though- I seem to remember he has a girlfriend from Ecuador or somewhere in South America?

I hate to side with MrTown, but as I said earlier in the thread, I don't think allowing Farage to use the club to promote his party explicitly means the club endorses racism.

Yes Farage is a racist. In terms of "It has promoted Farage" - no, not really. Farage promoted Farage, the club just allowed it. A stupid, stupid error of judgement, but that in itself doesn't mean the club endorses racism or any of Farage's foul views.

By your logic the club now endorses every one of Farage's views.
So for example it hates Albanians? And yet we employ an Albanian and pay him vast sums of money.

I get your anger. I'm angry too. But I don't think it's necessary to exaggerate to this degree to make the point that the club made a very bad mistake (and then compounded it by trying to cover it up).

If Ipswich Town Football Club genuinely endorsed racism then I wouldn't step foot in it again.

The club invited him. The club gifted him the shirts. The club gave their media team free access to film.

That may all be on Ashton or it may have involved other individuals but that is the very definition of the club promoting Farage.

The club has endorsed a racist and to deny it is to bury your head in the sand. I don't like it, but it is a fact.

I don't think for a moment that the club as a whole intentional endorses racism but the fact that Ashton has done so is why he absolutely must go and is a stain on our reputation until he has done so.

Ashton out!

Sorry that I haven't been vocal enough.

Those I have seen vocal about it are still posting too.

I will make sure I am more vocal about it because I remain very angry that nothing has been done to deal with this stain on the club.

Right now I feel about my club the same as I would if Farage or Lowe were voted in as PM. I would still love my country and want the best for my country but I would be worried about its chosen direction and I would be ashamed of my PM and government.

Right now I want the best for my club and I want us to win every game (especially tomorrow) and get promoted. But I am worried about the future direction of my club with an egotistical Chairman and CEO who is unashamed and unwilling to make a proper apology about his actions. I am ashamed of Ashton and the club's association with Farage and Reform.

My point in this thread was that the club doesn't endorse racism. You've posted "I don't think for a moment that the club as a whole intentional endorses racism", so yes, we're in agreement. Anything else you inferred is from what others have disengenuously posted about me.

Ah, so you agree with part of what I said when you said "glad we agree".

But you don't agree with the main gist.

Ashton used the club to officially endorse a racist.

If you can't see that (and that doesn't mean the club as a whole officially does so), it is on you.

I think you don't agree but it is your choice not to.

Ashton out for using the club to officially endorse a racist and promote his political party and then fail to take ownership or apologise for any of that.

EDIT: And if Ashton parts company with the club it is clear the club does not endorse them. By persisting with him (and especially as both Chairman and CEO) it is clear that the ownership group is comfortable with the fact the association has been made and no proper apology issued from Ashton. It really is that simple and why he remains a stain on the club.

"That is exactly what has happened."

It hasn't.

I (and many others) haven't forgotten and won't do so. There are quite a few upvotes to this thread which suggests I am far from alone.

I never claimed any percentage and don't care whether I am a lone voice or not (which I know I most certainly am not). I won't join with the apologists who want to pretend it never happened or to pretend that Ashton apologised.

in feeling so strongly, and in such absolutist and black and white terms, you are in a small minority. which is why all the constant 'ashton out' is getting nowhere.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

The club has actively facilitated the far right to produce a party political broadcast on its facilities, and have so far refused to distance itself from it. There has been zero acknowledgement of what they have actually done. They have chosen to associate themselves with the far right, nobody forced them to.
