To an extent, I agree with Frimmers. Not a free hit in the sense of failing to care about the result (I'm sure we all very much want to beat our historical rivals), but Town's position and circumstances do allow more freedom in the approach and style. There is no desperate need to scrape a result by whatever means possible. We can go to Carrow Road and play, to impose our game plan, not to have so much pressure if there are setbacks. To enjoy the experience, even - as palyers and fans. We even have the hoodoo of not winning after going behind off our backs now.

It's not a free hit. If we lose, especially if Wall and Boro win, our path becomes more difficult with less margin for error.

In the league since Christmas : 17 games (9H, 8A) 31 goals 8 clean sheets 6 where we've conceded only a single goal We have scored in every game In a normal game, a loss would be unlikely. Yes, it's a derby so anything can happen, but we're on a good run. As long as we turn up (unlike SheffU & Wrexham), I see a narrow win or draw.
| Nervy (n/t) on 11:39 - Apr 10 with 1198 views | eirannach_gorm | The more I think about this game, the more confident I get. We perform better against the stronger teams and seem to have less brain farts. They will be gung ho from the start and attack us which suits the way the team is set up. We do need to keep up our attacking threat for the whole game and not go into our shell and attempt to defend for long periods at the edge of the box. Getting a result here might be easier than at Portsmouth. | | | |

Inclined to agree. If we lose, that puts a huge amount of extra pressure on the other games. We can't just shrug our shoulders and say it's not the end of the world we're still in a strong position. Even just 1 point could be huge. And it doesn't destroy confidence. I'm still worried about Saints if we lose. Their form and their fixtures are so good you could see them winning the lot. Lose there too and it could go badly wrong quickly, even if we beat Boro.

I'm in agreement and have just this second mentioned to a client the same thing. Ultimately, we're second with two games in hand, meaning of the 7 remaining 2 we can theoretically lose (although not ignoring GD). I'm looking at Norwich and Southampton as the two 'nightmare' games. If we can win or draw either of those, then all (sounds easy saying 'all' but it's in our hands) to match Millwall and Boro for the remaining 5. We have Boro at home though and that could well be the defining game of the season for both of us. I'm not ignoring Millwall by any stretch though, they have on paper the easiest run in and certainly appear to have the most unified team/club with some momentum. Us and Boro feel like we're hanging on a little. Pros/Cons We've not beaten Norwich at their place forever....that has to change at some point lol Norwich are better away than they are are home, sadly we're worse away from home. We reversed going behind last week to win, nice time to get that off the back. We're pretty consistent.

Possibly your worst ever comment. Free hit ffs. Wouldn’t be a free hit if we were 10 points clear.

Get a win against Norwich and Portsmouth, and you see how that crowd reacts against boro, this match means absolutely everything to every town fan I know, we can’t afford to approach it as a free hit, it’s not a game of football it’s war, BLOOD GUTS AND GLORY !!

As I think we both agreed in a previous thread - we are well capable of winning but we are also extremely capable of putting in a Wrexham performance as well, particularly when the opposition come racing out of the blocks like will surely be the case tomorrow.
