Why change the back 4?
I know Johnson made a terrible mistake in the first minute, but he was steady after that and very unlikely to repeat that mistake. Don't get it. O'Shea and Greaves have been a real force lately...so why change them?

Not sure I like Greaves at left-back or Mehmeti totally out of form, but hope they have storming games. Where's walle? Perhaps an injury, but more probably not needed with Burns back. Still intrigued to know if Cajuste's 30th league appearance triggers a sale. I think when Akpom came on ahead of him the other day that relegated him to 6th choice centre midfielder! Perhaps we can pay a £1m penalty to get out of it or something and therefore he's still there for emergencies, no-one knows the situation. [Post edited 25 Apr 11:37]

trying to win the game at all costs carries a risk and the difference between a win and a draw in terms of our promotion chances is smaller than between a draw and a loss.

Agreed we shouldn’t, but I wouldn’t want to be relying on a win in that last game given some of the dodgy decisions being made this season. Going down to the last game will be torture as well of course! | |

I’m pretty sure the guys aren’t going to risk throwing it away if it doesn’t go well. There’s a difference between aiming to win but making sure you don’t lose if it goes pear shaped and settling for a draw from the off. IMO anyway.
There’s a very good chance we lose v S’ton (who knows, but given our unpredictability away and their ability to score it will be very tough). IF that’s how it plays out a draw today could cost us. It may not of course, but I’d rather we get this done than keep not taking our opportunities. [Post edited 25 Apr 11:44]

It's because, despite his dodgy finishing, he plays the role much better than Hirst and has done for the last few months, which is why McKenna has been starting him more and keeping him on for longer. |

I still think he’s a really poor excuse for a striker though. Had hirst been the hirst of old this season and/or we’d got a striker in Jan, suspect we would have tried to send him back.

The fact that he waited so long to bring Hirst on at Charlton when Azon was clearly flagging suggest George can’t play 90mins atm imo.
As I agree, Azon is generally terrible and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a professional striker with less goal threat. His finishing is absolutely laughable.
Good team otherwise, not surprised to see JG at LB given their aerial threat. |
