| What to do for Southampton? 15:31 - Apr 25 with 4522 views | GlasgowBlue | A point really doesn't help us, unless Millwall lose or draw against against Oxford and we lose against QPR. A loss still means we need to beat QPR to make certain. Do we go all out for the win or rest everyone so we are fresh for QPR? | |

| What to do for Southampton? on 16:07 - Apr 25 by EastTownBlue | They are four points behind. I did have the scenario during last nights match if Millwall lost and we lost today and on Tuesday, Saturday would be a goal difference competition. [Post edited 25 Apr 16:09]

If Southampton beat us on Tuesday we could end up with 4 sides on 80 points. Boro and Southampton draw their final match while Millwall and us lose. Then it is GD between the four of us!

| What to do for Southampton? on 16:06 - Apr 25 by boysof1981 | Southampton will have to come for us, if they beat us 3-0 which isn’t impossible they’ll be ahead on goals scored. That’ll mean they match our result next Saturday lunch time it’ll be them going up. Hopefully we’ll get the 3pts which will take us up unless there’s a massive 17 goal swing between us and Millwall |
They can only get to 82. If we lose then we can only get 81 or 83 so goals scored makes no difference.

We could both end on 80! Although for that to take 2nd place requires Boro and Southampton to draw their final game as well as us and Millwall to lose ours.

| What to do for Southampton? on 16:24 - Apr 25 with 748 views | _CliveBaker_ | I think there’s a compromise position to be had. We need to win 1 of the 2, and while it might feel more likely to be at home to QPR we’ve got to go to St Mary’s and have a proper go at them, but give a few the rest they need. Azon, Mehmeti, McAteer, Taylor come out. Hirst, Nunez, Burns, Neil to start. | | | |

Let's throw a curveball in and play Neil and Cajuste in midfield.

| What to do for Southampton? on 16:26 - Apr 25 with 722 views | Swansea_Blue | We rest players regularly and it doesn’t help. I suspect Kieran will do his usual rotation, we’ll huff and puff through 90 mins and the result will be in the lap of the gods. We can turn up and get a result there, but I’d put the odds of that at about 20% at best. A draw would be a great result (genuinely, unlike today). I expect us to lose convincingly. | |

Philogene for Clarke would be the only other likely change, maybe Davis is fit in which case Kipre drops out, personally I’d bring in Johnson for Kiore anyway | | | | Login to get fewer ads

yes I'm talking about the most pints either of us can get. Not the minimum.

More or less knackered than a Southampton team who will be given the runaround at Wembley and with an adrenaline crash and even less recovery time!?

That’s fair, and I can see that happening. 5 changes, go and have a proper swing at them. Thanks to today’s point a defeat there wouldn’t really change our ask of 1 win, as I fancy Millwall to do the job against Oxford in front of a pumped Den anyway. We don’t really have to entertain any thoughts of playing for a draw etc, we can afford to have a proper swing at them and no doubt they’ll do the same to us.

totally wrong. Saints are 4pts behind us so even if they beat us - and level the goal difference by beating us by 3 - we will still finish ahead of them if we match their result next Saturday.

A draw away at Southampton would be a great result in the sense they are playing very well, and we will do well to get a point there. But it pretty unlikely to be meaningful in the table at the end of the season. The only thing that (almost certainly) matters is if we manage to win one of the two games. You’d much rather have them in the other order, wouldn’t you.

Not really. Failure to beat Southampton wouldn't be the end of the world as we have QPR at home to come. However, I would hate to fail to beat QPR & then have to go to southampton needing a win.

But you wouldn’t know that as we play Saints first! Gamblers might make big changes for Saints and then have strongest team for QPR. Don’t think we could expect Burns to play twice so could see him rested with Nunez Davis.

| What to do for Southampton? on 16:04 - Apr 25 by C_Jam_Blue | I think KM will be pretty conservative. The nightmare scenario is to lose 2 or 3 nil and have saints level on goal difference and Boro only two behind. |
If we lose then beat QPR , goal difference becomes irrelevant as Millway will not make of a 10 plus swing . Time to trust the process and keep the faith .
| What to do for Southampton? on 18:03 - Apr 25 with 562 views | WinchBlue | Pressure is on Saints, although having watched the 1st 1/2 of the Semi, they’re not going to be particularly tired. Pretty sure that KM will be planning to win. | | | |
| What to do for Southampton? on 18:03 - Apr 25 with 561 views | bex | Gotta go for the win, Southampton will be exhausted too, they are only midway through their game and having to put a big shift in against City right now. They've lost Downes as well so less rotation available. | | | |

McKenna has rotated the squad all season & he will continue to do so next week. I'm sure he'll have an eye on having his best XI fit for QPR, though.

The absolute wrong thing to do. Resting players for another few days is physically pointless and allows mental switching off. Any time we have rested players ( cup games ) has not gone well. KMcK has rotated the players all year to mixed results.

Should we lose on Tuesday we will still be in second place.

Yeah. With the expectation that Millwall will beat Oxford, there isn't really any difference between a draw and a loss on Tuesday. As I type that... oh my goodness.

They have taken off Steward to rest him I presume. Good to see Scienza is still out there. Wellington was struggling and has just gone off injured. Roll on extra time………………. They just scored, this is even better!
