Possible that with WBA playing a very overlapping right back it made sense to have a left footer playing LB on Saturday.

I'd go Kippy & O'Shea, Greaves LB and Johnny in the wide right position ahead of Furlong for this one. Its worked well in the past away from home.

McAteer has looked cooked in these last couple of 2nd halves, I'd be inclined to wrap him up a bit and unleash him fresh on QPR. I wonder if we'll see the Egg back on the bench tomorrow.

Walton
Furlong O'Shea Kipre Greaves
Matusiwa Neil
Johnson Nunez Philogene
Hirst

Keep Taylor, McAteer, Mehmeti & Azon fresh for the weekend to bring the energy. Hopefully a fit again Davis as well and a Burns swan song off the bench.

It's Kipre who scares me so I'd rather Greaves was alongside O'Shea. No reason not to play Ben Johnson for the final two games.

Think I might prefer Greaves on the left and Johnson in front of Furlong. If Saints can't win they are no longer a threat on the final day.

Kippy, Johnny and Egg?

Sounds like a psychedelic 60s kids TV show

I think I'd be happier with Greaves at LB against Southampton. Johnson at LB versus QPR.

Didn’t Johnson roll the ball to a Charlton foward for their goal last week ? Greaves looks solid to me, and offers far more going foward.

The only Muff in Town.

Indeed, Kipre looks like an accident waiting to happen recently, Johnson has been excellent, something I never thought I'd type.

Agreed as not sure that Kipre has the pace v Saints. Johnson is best if Davis not quite there leaving him for qpr.
My concern is where’s the goals coming from. Perhaps Egile is answer!

He will go johnson greaves inside kipre on the bench, saints are a mobile team not a team putting high balls in all day, we need mobility,

Yes. He doesnt lose his talent going left side. But he comes inside alot when sides attack and leaves wide players loads of space to get balls in. It happened alot In both recent games. I think if we did that tomorrow we may come unstuck

Unless there are slight injuries we’re not aware of, I don’t see why we can’t just stick with Johnson at LB and Greaves next to O’Shea. We should have in every game since Norwich. Using the squad doesn’t really wash as a reason to rotate, as the likes of O’Shea, Furlong and Matusiwa don’t get rotated out. We could have settled on the most convincing back four and stuck with it for four or five games, with a straight swap in of Leif before he was injured. Not feckin about moving players around multiple positions. It’s not even as if Johnson and Greaves will be burnt out, as they’ve been ‘managed’ all season. I’m sure they could manage a little run of games, players at most other clubs have no problems doing it.

the 3 you mention are match-hardened, whereas johnson has been out for a while, so three 90 mins in a week might be a big ask.

greaves should be much nearer full fitness, but i'd have thought that there's a big difference between centre-back and being a km left back in terms of ground covered and run frequency

Greaves was very good against West Brom. Same Vs Coventry away. Portsmouth away I think was his only bad one and he wasn't alone.

All that said I would much prefer Greaves CB.

I have no preference really, but am curious why Greaves scares the sht out of you? Being the more defensive option who has proved to be nothing but solid in that position. Is it just his potential lack of pace? I'd say in that set up Kipre seems to be more the liability at the moment.
