Idea for a full house on Saturday 22:05 - Apr 28 with 9950 viewsJ2BLUE

Edit: Edited thread title just in case that Facebook Reform supporter post is based on them getting the wrong end of the stick about this thread. I don't want to

Not looking to goad anyone who is or mock anyone who is planning to go after not going to previous games. I'm going somewhere with this (and no, not after your ticket!).

Edit: Idea further down if anyone wanted to see it.

I’ll be there. I do however respect other people’s views on the subject, but personally I won’t be letting politics dictate whether I go to a football match or not. I just don’t feel strongly about it. But I do get other people do. Need to respect everyone’s opinions.

Respecting people's opinions is very different to respecting their right to having and expressing them.

Considering you're an active X user you know it's not just some people on here........

Why does it bother you that there are people that have different thoughts to you? no one is claiming the whole fanbase is bothered, however you are the only person that's saying it's only people on here that is.

There are many people it bothers, over various platforms, some not on platforms. PHIL as confirmed that sponsors were bothered, is that proof for you or do you need a written statement?

You may disagree with it, but there are companies that have absolutely no wish to be associated with reform or Farage in anyway, so whilst farage waving a flag won't bother you, if they use the social platform to link their party with town and sponsors are included - for example those on the press board backround, No they won't be happy about it despite it being about promotion. As sponsors and probable town fans in associated, of course they'll be happy with the promotion itself, but companies tread a fine line when it comes to exposure.

There is virtually NOTHING on X about it now and there has been no TANGIBLE proof that its really impacted the sponsors. Im sure they wont have been delighted but I would imagine that the current promotion push outweighs the "outraged of TWTD" whining that goes on.

You say "many" people, but like the others have ZERO proof on the subject.

Perhaps I havent, however I can point at the absolute silence on the subject anywhere other than on here.

Anyway, I cant recall you being that bothered previously, although I know how much you love jumping aboard bandwagons on here, to desperately try to reclaim credibility (another Frimley classic last night to add to many many more).

4 downvotes...maybe my fault for not being clear.

I was going to suggest, those that want to, sponsor people who were staying away to go to this game with donations to Hope Not Hate.

I was testing the water seeing how many people were staying away.

My reasoning is that it would be great to have a full bouncing stadium with no empty seats at all. Also, the likes of Rommers have followed Town around the country. Bankster and his daughter have had STs for years. They deserve to see this moment.

So I was thinking, they could go safe in the knowledge that something positive and real was being done.

Not going to do an official Go Fund Me or whatever, people can directly donate their own amounts and i'll keep a tally...if there is any appetite for it.

This where the written word on a place like this can be misinterpreted.

If you were in a pub or cafe or any other public space, and saw somebody you knew who had said they would be boycotting Portman Road it would be reasonable for you you to ask the question, knowing that you had a follow up.

eg.

J2: "Hello [insert name]. Are you still boycotting Portman Road"?

[insert name]: "Yeah. I can't reconcile what Ashton did by letting Farage exploit our club"

J2: That's a shame. But I have a great idea where you could get behind the team against QPR and be part of the promotion celebrations without giving up your principles"

[insert name]: Really? What's that"?

J2: "I was thinking that we could ask someone to sponsor people who were staying away to go to this game with donations to Hope Not Hate".

That's how conversations work in real life but are incredible difficult on here because you are talking to several people at the same time and they don't allow the conversation to develop.

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it........."

What is it you're after exactly? a list of people that don't use twtd? bit odd

Do I need to post x links on twtd too? again why?

Its a discussion within a thread Waveney, I know the concept of a discussion is difficult for you, You should know by now, creditability isn't something I care about, otherwise I wouldn't post my views on football, however conveniently for you this is a thread for you to continue to be your usual non contributing self other than to take pots at people's thoughts that differ to your own without actually discussing your own thoughts about things themselves.

And yes, I was bothered previously, I was involved in the discussions and I also stopped my town tv payment as my way of showing my disapproval of what Ashton did and mentioned that previously. All i could do really considering I dont go to fixtures.

Anyways, im still waiting on you to reply to another thread where we lol were having a discussion, but you went missing after once again dropping into take a shot and then leave.

You're better than that

You are placing an unrealistic arbitrary burden of proof for a threshold that only exists in your head. Prove to me that there are very few people that want Ashton out.

You can't, much as I can't prove that there are a large amount of people that do. But, even then, that isn't the point. It's not a contest. There is no 'winning side' here. You just seem hell bent on proving that everyone agrees with you. There is enough evidence in this thread alone that this isn't the case.

I don't understand why you are so butt hurt that some people are not happy at recent actions and don't completely align with your views. I'll be honest, it comes across as fairly insecure. In terms of hills to die on, it's a fairly bizarre one.

Or you're trolling. Probably this.

I'll leave this here as this is going nowhere.

Disagree, I'm part of a WhatsApp group that has over 200 Town fans in it, the overwhelming majority want to see him gone but most have no desire to do things that might derail the season.

I think you're in cloud cuckoo land if you think there's a few odd bods who are anti Ashton.

Thing is, there are people that aren't happy with it, but they also aren't happy with shouting about it. If you go back to when it happened, the replies people were getting for being unhappy about it were quite insulting across socials. There were replies on X for example telling people they weren't british in reply to a tweet bemoaning reform being at the club.

I haven’t watched any of our games on TV since Faragegate. I’ve kept an eye on the scores and watched highlights after the event, but I’ve seen nothing as live since. And I will stick to that on Saturday.
In large part, it’s been down to taking a stand, but gradually, I’ve found myself not watching so as not to jinx things!

I’m planning to wipe the slate clean next season, regardless of which division we’re in, as who knows what changes may have taken place by then.

I haven’t missed it desperately, per se, but I am hoping that there’s only one more game to go.

Edit - I quite like the Hope Not Hate idea btw.

I actually gave my "evidence" in the previous post.

and have you asked those hundreds of thousands what their view is on inviting a racist, antisemitic politician to the club, allowing them free propaganda, then lying about it and cackhandedly attempting to cover it up?

you've given no evidence either, stop trying to police the board on this. people are perfectly entitled to feel that a line has been crossed when he has been inviting a racist, antisemitic politician to the club, allowing them free propaganda, then lying about it and cackhandedly attempting to cover it up

why do you feel you have to step on every thread about it and try to shut down people's free speech about this?

Because I can and will continue to do so, as an alternative to the few who cannot get over a politician visiting a football club.

Free speech works both ways (appreciate thats hard to accept)

Anyway, thanks for asking and I hope that clears it up for you.

again, using the word "few" to denigrate people's reactions to inviting a racist, antisemitic politician to the club, allowing them free propaganda, then lying about it and cackhandedly attempting to cover it up.

just accept that people think that ashton has crossed a line here, and you (and everyone else) have no idea how many people this is.

free speech is fine, making up things to suit your argument isn't

Like making up theres loads of people still bothered, to suit your argument.

Why do you lot struggle with the concept that it works both ways.

i personally know lots of people who are angered by it, no need to belittle them by saying they don't exist.

i've no idea on the general majority/minority, and have never speculated on that, but it's certainly not a "few"
