| O’Shea 09:26 - Apr 29 with 2496 views | cymroglas | Driving home from the game last night (aside from the odd stray pass and boo boys saying he should not be captain) I was thinking that he’s the best centre half this club has had in a long time. | | | | |

Yeah I did, but how many of those are floaty, crappy ones to the back post that gives Dara little to work with? Our set plays have been arguably our biggest disappointment this season. Hudson should be scrutinised IMO. By contrast, I saw Southampton are the 2nd highest set piece scorers, which has probably helped tip the fine margins more in their favour during this good recent run.

| O’Shea on 11:23 - Apr 29 by portmanking | Yes, I think a midfield of something like Matusiwa deep with Hackney and Marcel Ruiz either side would be epic. |
Get back to Mexico lads. No idea if Marcel Ruiz was any good this season but I loved the look of him last summer. Looked the sort of high energy 8 this team is really missing. Cant see Hackney ending up here so go raid the French league. Think it is the league that is most transferrable to the prem. This is all supposing we win on Saturday lol.

I'm surprised we haven't had many near post headed goals between Oshea, greaves etc. Seems like the obvious route but we don't really do it.

I'd make a case for De Vos. Some leadership qualities, and he scored a lot more goals that O'Shea does, perhaps because he as that bit taller.

Agree big area for improvement. We are on 15 which is 9th best in the league. Considering we must be up there in terms of number of set pieces and we've got 3/4 quality corner takers.

I can't remember the last time we scored from a corner (no doubt someone will come along and point out it was 2 games ago or something), but I always find it amusing our players running around whispering to each other about what routine they are going to attempt before it invariably being lobbed over to O'Shea at the far post and ultimately coming to nothing.

Trafford isnt coming here. Ngumoha damn sure isn't coming here. Hackney maybe, think it we will go above us. Brighton like him. Delap maybe/hopefully.

| O’Shea on 11:28 - Apr 29 by MalcolmBlue | Agreed! It has to be his. In fact the only other person I would want to see win it would be Burns, but only because of his contract situation and just as a way for the fans to thank him for his contribution over the past few seasons. |
I don't want to overcomplicate things here but isn't the purpose of a Player of the Season award supposed to recognise the player of the season?

To be fair to others O'Shea hasn't always done enough with them. For someone so good in the air, and to win so many of those 1st contacts, he does have a habit of limply heading the ball back into the wrong areas / at the keeper / wide of the post.
| O’Shea on 12:44 - Apr 29 with 304 views | NthQldITFC | By virtue of his consistently dominant best on pitch performances at this level, and decent performance last year too, you'd have to look back to the Mowbray/Venus/McGreal era for your first challenger. I'd argue he's probably better than all of those, as a modern high-speed era player anyway. | |

If Marcel Ruiz is back on I'd be delighted. Looked a fantastic player last summer. Can't think why we didn't get him if he was keen. A season settling into England would have been ideal.

I think it was 'studs up' enough to merit at least a booking these days, even if he did get the ball. My trousers were a little inflated for a few seconds until I saw the yellow.

Think he wasn't keen on a move to the championship iirc. The Uruguayan Centre Half whose name escapes me but is a full international for one of the best national teams in the world was very keen though.

Sebastian Caceres. He's still high on the priority list, along with Esteve.

That's the fella. He also strikes me as a Centre back who would be really good in a back 3 which I'm hoping we move to. Same goes to Boyomo.

How many of them has he got his head onto only for the whistle to go almost immediately because players are cuddling each other?

| O’Shea on 10:12 - Apr 29 by Garv | For me it's O'Shea 1st, he was winning back post headers again with ease again last night, including the one to set up the equalizer. Probably Matusiwa 2nd for his overall impact and ability to keep going despite clearly being injured - any other player would be on the bench at the moment. His tackling ability is incredible, I do just worry about his pace and quality on the ball in the PL. Then Clarke has to take third for his goals and composure for all the late goals/penalties. I still think he and Philogene should be offering more assists but you can't ignore the impact Clarke has, it's almost an old school attitude of "just give the ball to Jack" at times which is great. Honorable mentions: Greaves Furlong Walton Taylor |
O’Shea’s a terrific player ~ better live than he comes across on tv. The best CH Ive seen since the glory days. He reminds me a little bit of Russell Osman in his mobility and ability on the ball. Greaves? He’s getting it together now and in recent weeks has done well. Matusiwa is clearly carrying an injury, but what footballer. O’Shea’s edges his only because he’s through injury not been quite as effective. Clarke has come on leaps and bounds as a footballer. He’s no longer a one trick pony of a player. At times he's unplayable. JP? More talented in some ways and sometimes more deadly, but if I had to keep one of the two it’d be Clarke ~ provided he sorted the hair and got a pair of shorts that fitted. Agree re Furlong, Walton and Taylor.
