| I will be amazed if Kieran McKenna is our manager at the start of the season on 10:48 - May 4 by itfckenty | I'm actually the opposite. 2nd chance with us! As it stands I can't see anyone in the prem taking a serious punt, albeit that could change throughout the season and if he manages to keep us up. I think either way, he will leave at the end of next season, either A. Done all he can and wants a new challenge, B. Kept us up and wants to progress in a further established club. I'm confident |
Think you’re spot on with this, agree with every part of this. Don’t think it’s impossible he goes this summer but don’t think it is very likely now we’ve gone up, not sure any stable and sensible clubs will want to take a punt on him and wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t want another crack with us. Deffo go either way next summer as you say and I won’t begrudge him it at all

I just hope it’s not something that drags out for a month like last time. Good luck to him when he goes. A legend here at Town. |
Celtic won’t be able to afford the compensation clause I reckon

I think Lampard has something about him, he isn't completely useless like some of his crop of ex players turned managers. I think Chelsea giving him this situation would be crazy. Really think they need an experienced head. Bit like Conte was, or even Tuchel. Although without Europe that might be tough to find. Think Marco Silva would be a decent shout.

No me neither. Especially when you consider his agent is a certain c00nt, Frank Trimboli. His agent wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't touting his client after a third promotion in four years.

| I will be amazed if Kieran McKenna is our manager at the start of the season on 11:16 - May 4 by Cafe_Newman | KMcK is a person of great intelligence and impeccable character. He won't leave Suffolk or Ipswich for at least another 3 or 4 years. |
He’s agreed to leave us. Twice. One of those he actively courted Brighton for weeks. And insisted he speak to any club he likes. Those are the facts. But he won’t leave. Partly his wages, but mostly his one season at this level. If he keeps us up, that will be a different challenge, because Utd and Chelsea I would think will still be struggling. We’ve become a bit of an echo chamber with KM, EFL success is amazing for us, barely registers as success for premier league clubs. Even Forest and Wolves went for foreign managers with a dozen trophies and titles to their name, across leagues too…, that’s a whole new level.
| I will be amazed if Kieran McKenna is our manager at the start of the season on 09:01 - May 11 with 877 views | Pinewoodblue | Any chairman/ CEO in the Premier League would want to interview Kieran McKenna if they had a manager/ coach vacancy. They would want an opportunity to find out what makes him tick, what is the talent he has that has lead to his success. The old guard are brung replaced. One day he will move on, possibly beyond these shores, but not until the right opportunity comes along. | |

I like to see him as the modern version of Sir Bobby. Given years here to build a great team before going off to the pinnacle.

I know everything frequently changes in football but hes already proven capable of building mutiple teams. Its right to look in 1 year cycles to keep the right short term focus but in reality you dont change the recipe on either side unless you absolutely need to. Football management can be a long career but its riddled with lots of short term fails on both sides. Kmck is on the way to building a great dynasty. I will be disappointed if proven wrong because something will have gone wrong but very much out of supporters control eg funding disappears or a opportunity he cant turn down arrives, however if he decides its right for him to move at some sooner point we have to respect that.

Think the main factors are if his family are settled and happy which it sounds like they are that’s a biggie and only a huge opportunity would be considered eg top six and that’s feels highly unlikely Second is his Ashton relationship which is a complete unknown, the calibre of players signed hasn’t been mixed of late and possibly a source of angst. I was slightly concerned by his post match QPR interview alluding to issues this season, but since then sounds like more positive messages have come out

Purchases such as that don't strike me as the actions of someone who is expecting to have to move in the near future, so it's all the confirmation I need that he will be in the dugout for the first game next season.

Think it was clear at the start of the season Mckenna was unhappy with the speed of the recruitment. Was exactly the same last year when we went in to the first few games with Delap and Al Hamadi as our striker options, remember him seeming a bit frustrated in a few pressers. I'm feeling pretty confident that he will stay but we have to give him a serious Premier League squad if we want to keep him long term. I think we will, I like the noise coming from the club about learning lessons from last time.

Chelsea will go for either a highly-experienced manager or a company man that will do their bidding, I don't see him being top of Man U's shortlist, and it sounds like Iraola to Palace is almost done. It would need something unexpected, such as Hurzeler being poached from Brighton, or interest from abroad. [Post edited 11 May 10:23]

Good to know that even Premier League managers can still enjoy one of life's great pleasures.
