Ashton under investigation from FA on 11:27 - May 8 by mellowblue
"In 2023, her car was attacked by Ipswich fans while heading to Portman Road for an East Anglian derby." Load of dross. Hardly town fans fault if she follows the team bus through the usual town fans reception committee. A beer bottle landed on her bonnet and some hurty words were said. Big deal. As for Ashton, is he that in touch with crowd songs, did he know the words. Was he pretending to sing along. If he was singing along it is disappointing, I would would have expected more common sense, sensitivity and decorum from O'Shea and Ashton; them being club leaders.
Has Delia ever said publicly why she chose to follow closely behind the Town player's coach through an official greet the players event? And not follow the Norwich player coach with police escort to the ground? Maybe she forgot she was no longer an Ipswich fan.

I think the 2 clubs should get together and issue a joint statement, drawing a sensable line . calling each other scum, binners etc, the Fashanu song, flashing up Scum on the Norwich electric scoreboard in past memory , theres banter and rivalry but a line should be drawn now. Delia, at her age deseves some respect, I would be fuming if such things were sung about Pat Godbold, ungentlemanly and unnecessary. I have a beef with the Pink un as well for not stopping Binners and Scum derogative comments when it says its a serious tabloid, and biased inflamatry reporting, Delias car was not 'attacked'.

Thats not the discussion at hand tho is it.
Altho flash did say lets not forget about who got mckenna in
So I guess it doesnt matter what happend to town under Sheepy other than he got burley in.
This fact does not suit your narrative. Mark has not ruined people’s lives but your proud chairman did and you say that does not matter. What a terrible response from you

Like I said. Im not saying it doesnt matter. It does to me. Altho id argue the collapse of itv was the cause not Sheepy. But thats a different discussion.
But no I feel it does matter what happens after the event. But comparing a promotion celebrating between two chairman.. one acted in a way which a chairman should imo.. one didnt.

Your second paragraph is rather reflective of what is wrong in this country - the inability to see when something is wrong just because it’s the other side.
Just because some feel that verbally abusing an 84 year old woman is a bit odd it does not mean that they are backing a Norwich based media organisation.
I’m all for singing anti-Norwich songs but those Delia ones are awful.
And like it or not, it’s one thing for an ordinary fan to sing those songs but for a CEO or captain to sing them - they are required to have more class and responsibility about them.
It also rather raises the question as to why it wasn't reported by any of the local media outlets (in common with a lot of stuff that doesn't show Ashton in the best possible light).
Almost as if they feel that they dare not show Ashton in anything other than the best possible light. Much like the local press in Watford when he was CEO there.

Good idea in theory, but everyone will have their own idea of where the line is. For example, I have a problem with other human beings (especially ones the person involved has never met) being described as "scum".

Yes. Because town still had a parade before the town hall.. that time was for players. The manager the coaches etc
The town hall was where the town got together to celebrate.
They then all went their separate ways
Sheepy didn't get on the bus. Make himself the first person you see and also didnt go out as one of the lads and sing stupid songs about an oap
Theres a decorum in how you act in that position. Being involved in celebration is normal, expected and deserved.
Its how you go about it.
You're splitting hairs. They were both very visible during Town's promotion celebrations, whether it was playing to the crowd from a balcony or an open top bus, there's not a huge amount of difference.

There is a big difference. Ones joining in a celebration. The other is making sure they are part of the celebration.
Sheepy got himself to the town hall to be part of it
Ashton got on the bus to make sure hes at the front of it ( why not go on the 2nd bus with the other staff? Afterall hes a behind the scenes staff member.)
Then after parading himself at the front he then remains at the front in the park whilst players talk to the fans etc
Then goes to the pub like one of the players. Gets pssed and sings songs about an old lady.
One chairman stood on a balcony and wave his arms around.

Except Sheepy was a local who was Town's largest shareholder & had been on the board for 13 years at the time of Town's promotion. Ashton is a paid suit who might well be good at his job, but he has no real connection with the club beyond that.

The game has well and truly gone.
"Football executive attempts to celebrate success with fans on their level shocker". The era of social media means nothing in this world can be enjoyed organically anymore it seems.
Norfolk's last desperate stand to try and cling on to power in the football world.

Except Ashton has got an Ipswich Town tattoo which is not standard Harvard MBA behaviour.

One of the reasons I didn't go to the parade was I couldn't stomach Ashton trying to make it all about him after his actions over the past few weeks. Anyone with a iota of awareness and/or shame would have thought the best thing to do would be lie low. But no, he has to put himself at the heart of everything positive but scurries into hiding at the first point of trouble, where leadership is required.
The complete opposite of running towards diversity.

Sucking up to Farage is definitely running from diversity.

No, there's no difference. You admitted earlier you didn't even know if Sheepy was on the bus. But it's not the point anyway. He was chanting at the crowd, front and centre. So was Ashton. Whether either had a drink with the lads or not is neither here nor there. There wasn't social media - or even phone cameras - in those days, to capture any of it anyway.
You're exaggerating everything Ashton did because you don't like him, simple as.

I fail to see what any of that has to do with how front and centre either or both of them were in the celebrations, which is what we're discussing.

And thats why the fa are involved.
I do find it amazing that some dont appear to see the importance of ashtons role and how he quite simply should not be acting in certain ways.
Lately hes acting like ' ill do what I want when I want. Damn anyone else.
I do wonder if the pressure and relentless workload is getting to him. After all, it's been full-on, non-stop for four years, between promotions, relegations, infrastructure overhauls, financial/investment/ownership arrangements and all the fan/community re-engagement stuff. There has been no stability to cruise in, no real break to recuperate.

We all need a period of mid-table stability to recuperate.
