Dripping with the condescending cr@p that Dear old Mullers specialises in. Lovely stuff

If your whole agenda is based around demonisation of the ‘other’ and transmitting onto the ‘other’ the blame and responsibility for the perceived ills in society, then that’s the territory you’ve inhabited. They’re further along that path over the pond, and the two R parties that a lot of people have been extolling on here about today are basing their strategy on what has worked there. I’ve responded to you rather than that Waveney fella that also replied because you’re generally civil and measured on here. That said, I’m not getting into a back and forth as I suspect were unlikely to reach agreement.

Technically they’re more closely aligned with quasi-fascism, which borrows from the classic fascists without replicating every element of fascism. That’s largely because we’re now operating under very different economic and geo-political conditions and quasi-fascists are often in opposition and can’t own shape their environment in the way the likes of Hitler and Mussolini could when in power So they borrow things from fascism like: - intense, negative nationalism ☑️ - ‘othering’ a minority group, often immigrants, as the blame for people’s woes ☑️ - promoting a leadership cult ☑️ - promote authoritarian conservative principles ☑️ - attack on norms and institutions critical to a healthy democracy ☑️ [Post edited 8 May 21:15]

If you can label someone, you don't have to debate with them.

| It’s VE Day on 21:22 - May 8 with 1008 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | It’s a fair point, but certainly ironic when we also have a sitting government that classes protesters as terrorists, locks them up, attempts to cancel elections, force compulsory ID on people, and remove jury trials. Straight out of the fascist/authoritarian playbook (and hence I didn’t renew my vote for them). Probably get flamed by this, but people seem to be willing to wave their hard fought rights away and continue to vote for their favourite team. | | | |

Not true. The post above your is literally replying to Brazil, so there’s no avoiding debate.

Why do they always run from debate though? I would love to understand, quite genuinely, why people that vote Reform do so, what they offer that chimes with them (notwithstanding that these are local elections), in a normal civil way. But never, not once, do you ever get any kind of response. It’s just one word answers if anything at all. People apparently feel so strongly about something but never seem to articulate what it is or why.

Interviewing a Black American who works as a drug and alcohol worker there and has lived there for 16 years and is a British citizen now. Said that it always used to be a friendly place but the last couple of years he's noticed people staring at him and heard them whispering that he shouldn't be here, is he here illegally. Said that when the flags were going up there were areas he didn't feel safe to even drive through. This is the result of the hateful politics of Farage which the media have happily fanned and amplified, and never challenged. Well done, you bunch of c***s who support this awfulness. It seems to be because they're very happy to let someone else do all the thinking for them. So they're fine getting riled up about something a grinning narcissist tells them is a problem, like those different-looking people they occasionally see on TV - but, the grinning narcissist doesn't tell them how to answer any questions on their position (because their position stands up to no scrutiny whatsoever), so instead they just emulate how they see him deal with questioning. "BORING!" "MOVE ON!" Make shit up. Or just baselessly attack the one asking the questions. Or just claim that everyone else is just as bad (like Starmer accepting a couple of pairs of glasses and declaring them, which is obviously exactly the same as the grinning narcissist accepting £5m to pursue agendas which would directly benefit its donor), so why not vote in the most-proven liar out of the lot of them, and then blame everyone else when life gets worse, more expensive and more dangerous for them in every measurable way. Same as you, I'm genuinely fascinated to understand more about why anyone who isn't a white billionaire would honestly think Nigel Farage would piss on them if they were on fire, and am desperate not to write it off as stupidity, but responses to any form of debate only ever seem to come from ignorance or bigotry and a complete blindness to how they're voting against their own safety and interests. Or there's no response at all, in which case, it seems pretty reasonable to make assumptions on what's underlying.

I believe it’s always been like this. Farage, like all demagogues and populists, just makes people feel they don’t have to hide it anymore.
