The Portman Road scenes before the players came out, the noise, the flags, the colour. Emotional. So many years and years of nothing, seasons over weeks before the actual end, half empty ground…to that, amazes me.
I still can't believe it. If you were there during the virtually two decades of nothingness then to see the ground like it is now it's like a miracle each time.

How right you are.
There are the crustys like me who saw the Robson era, then the Ferguson famine, Duncan drought. Then pride restored by Lyall followed by humiliation. The brilliant Burley years followed by Royle’s gallant effort the Magilton’s rather entertaining side - at home mostly. But then came the long winter. Evans and the clown show. I watched the club die in front of me. No future, no hope. Nothing.
Then Gamechanger to now. I still cannot believe it. There is so much thats been achieved and yet so much to potentially do. I’ve appreciated every moment since the club was sold to them. It might all end as quickly as it started, but the more the time in the EPL the more infrastructure is built the less likely that'll be. What has been done and what they are clearly trying to do is why Ive got so frustrated with some of the dismals.
It’s easy to criticise, moan, demand this and that, know best but actually know sweet f a. Yet people do it and clearly enjoy it. Yet those of us that care have witnessed the rebirth of this club and I could never have dreamed we’d be where we are now. 3 promotions in 4 years? We had no promotions in 23 years give or take. No hope of anything for many of those years.
So I’ve enjoyed it. For myself, other long term ITFC addicts, those who have passed and most importantly the younger generation. They are the future. The more young people that can be attracted to football, the more secure the club will be.
The scenes on Saturday were amazing. The footage of the players and staff enjoying it - brilliant. Just enjoy the moment, forget negatives, what lies ahead, outside stuff. Thats for tomorrow. Just enjoy the next few weeks or so is my take. I know I will.

Seen so much waffle on social media about whether a Pitch Invasion for 2nd is "Tinpot"
Pitch invasions are glorious and I'm glad we have got the hang of them now.
Bitterness, jealousy, envy. Their problem not ours. The scenes were amazing and the people loved it. So did the players and staff. That’s all that matters.
Life isn’t a popularity contest so who cares what others think. If our people enjoyed it, great. And given just how hard it is to get promoted to the EPL, why not.

Crickey, lots of bits getting me a bit dusty! I couldn’t stop choking up! Silly old fool. When Wes was sat down and said “I’m speechless…..I fvcking love this place”. We love you Wes, we really do.

2 things I picked up on the video is as follows: -
1. The celebration in this dressing room was brilliant. I've seen lots of these videos over the years and we just aced it. Players were together, they went for it and were all so delighted to have been promoted. It was more spectacular how happy and together we were. Let's be honest all our rivals did their best to stifle us and yet we got the job done. 2. Jack Clarke has great teeth. He along with Jaden were ones that hid away from the limelight in spite of being two of our best performers.

By far the weirdest moment was McKenna in the club before the bus parade with a speech that went something like: "this means so much to a town that doesn't have a shopping centre or where there is much to do".

… and that key message that this club is different because of how woven into the county and community it is - was brilliant.
Not sure the lack of a shopping centre was the right analogy!!!

Yeah, i totally get what he was trying to get at, I think, but it certainly came out weird!
It was uncharacteristically clumsy but I imagine he must have been absoutely emotionally drained. Kind of added to the charm of the moment to be reminded that he is actually human like the rest of us.

If we hadn’t have done a pitch invasion we’d have been called tinpot for not celebrating, that’s the way of social media these days unfortunately.
It is weird how different Portman Road looks from the pitch. I was really impressed by the playing surface. I apologise to the groundsman if we did damage. And the steward lady I had to push past to get on the pitch. But it had to be done

You’ll never take the 2-0 away win at Cardiff away from us though buh!

That turf was impressive. I know it’s lab’ technology that gets it there, but it’s so tight! I remember going on in 86’ V Oxford, and it was just a hard soil, with stud marks all over, 96’ post Gunn, a ploughed field, 2000, Bolton, better, and even 24’ didn’t look like this. You can see why Kieran made it job one after League One. Post script, 85’ V QPR, to busy looking over me shoulder to inspect the pitch.
