This is exactly what they do, use people for their own publicity and sow division.

And they'll keep doing it.

You are being abusive - again. Is there a reason why you cannot be polite towards a fellow poster who is just as entitled to give their opinion as you?

And for the record I do know how many died fighting the Axis powers.

One of them was an air gunner in 50 Squadron by the name of JH Matthews. His aircraft took part in an attack on two Battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau berthed in Brest in March 1941. Returning from the attack the damaged aircraft, a Handley Page Hampden, suddenly rolled and dived into the sea off the Scily Isles. The crew of four is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial. He was a relation of mine.

Fair play to you mate.

As I’ve said before you take a crowd of 30’000 people a fair few of those people will be Reform voters.

That’s if people like it or not. Some people won’t admit it either.

I wonder if Ashton played a blinder here, inviting the future PM of Blighty for a bit of nose bag.

At some point there needs to be a proper grown up conversation about it.

Other than sound bites, what really is it that reform voters are voting for?

This is the area I live in, I live in a reform area now. Tomorrow morning I’ll be emailing about an issue with at one of the local parks, and bringing up that local scrap men have stolen the gratings from the storm drains.

I wish I had kept the leaflets that had come through the door in recent weeks, the independent candidate had actual goals and visions.

The green candidate had information and a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve.

Reform, it was all about Farage. Nothing about the local area, the issues in the local area.

It’s all lacking a bit of substance really.

I tend not to talk politics with mates or colleagues these days, it’s just boring mate.

At the end of the day, I don’t see any politician as being in it for anything other than to line their own pockets. They’re all crooks, and the last person to enter the Houses of Parliament with honest intentions was Guy Fawkes.

Why didn’t you do that when the last local council had control then?

Presuming you didn’t of course Pugwash?

The park issue I raised and got a “I’ll look into it” response.

The park has had massive investment into it, so it’s heading in the right direction.

The gratings issue has happened this week funnily enough. 3 gratings all on back roads the local children use to walk to school.

We have been out with the previous councillor litter picking the local area. I’d more than welcome the same with the reform incumbent.

Looks like they made enough changes to the original photo to appease Halo, Sky and the club by blurring the background and removing the Championship badge.

What a horrific thread. It shows how deep a chasm this issue has caused. The club prides itself on its work in the community, and this is contrary to what I believe is that ethic. The club should issue a very clear statement that it does not endorse any political party and the use of the club for any political purpose is unwelcome.

There is a reason it was all about Farage. This made it national expenditure which is not subject to the limitations on local spending which apply in relation local elections.

This explains why my daughter received a nationally-driven mailshot but nothing locally. It also explains the full-page front page ads on polling day in papers like the Standard, which had the slogan "Vote Reform - Get Starmer Out".

This from today's Observer explains the position.

"Voters have reacted angrily to a series of prominent adverts taken out by Reform UK on polling day, including takeovers of both the print and online editions of the London Standard.

A graphic showing the back of Keir Starmer’s head with the slogan “Vote Reform: Get Starmer Out”, capitalised on the party’s central theme throughout the campaign – making mileage out of the unpopularity of the prime minister.

Media sources estimated that the total cost of buying up the newspaper’s front page was about £50,000, although the Standard does not make its rate public. However, by focusing on a national issue – as the party has also done in its direct mail campaign – Reform is able to sidestep the local spending limit, usually between £3,000 and £4,000 for a ward of 10,000 people.

There is also no reporting mechanism for this type of spend, meaning the party never has to declare it. Shaun Roberts, director of campaigns and digital at Unlock Democracy, said: “If they took out that ad at a general election, it would go into their national expense return, but there is no way of reporting it for a local election, so we won’t ever know. It is a longstanding issue, but has never been a problem before because parties don't usually have that much to spend at a national level for locals. However, Reform has been getting these very large donors and they are making the most of it - there is nothing illegal about it.”

Reform said that it “always complies com with the electoral law”.

It's all very canny but at the same time against the spirit of the rules.

But I would expect nothing less of someone like Farage who is keen to further stir up things in relation to his visit to the club, which if nothing else shows a lack of respect for Ashton, knowing how much hot water he got himself into a month or so ago.

Yes it’s not Reform types costing the police millions with “protests” which are thinly veiled attempts at riots across major cities.

It’s the left doxxing people for taking down flags they’ve put yup to spread hate.

The left are bussed in to stand outside hotels and intimidate people.

The left are resigning every day due to vile racist, transphobic, hate speech etc

The left are suggesting camps in enemy constituencies

Yes. The results are due to a democratic process. I don't think that's up for debate.
I don't think Mullet was questioning that either.
It seems to me he was giving an opinion on the outcome of that democratic process.
In a democratic society I found his thoughts very concerning.
That doesn't sound much like a democracy I'd be rushing to sign up for.
You?

Agreed.

The only thing I can add is that it was all completely avoidable.

It’s way too late for damage limitation now.

Since the gentleman concerned is unwilling to desist it might be appropriate for the club to get a court order to stop him.

It is fundamentally false to imply that Reform have any reason to thank Ipswich Town supporters for Reforms success. Any verbal apology would be worthless.

It would be interesting for the local press to ask if we have issued a cease and desist letter seeking that they do not continue to misuse our image and brand.

I’m sure it won’t stop them.
But it would be interesting to know if Ashton has even instructed lawyers to ask.
Something tells me he might not have…🙄

By blurring the background Halo advert is unreadable something must have prompted that, hopefully action by Ashton.

Baffling how you can infer that from a list proving you wrong. It’s interesting you go for personal attacks in the fact of facts when proven wrong. The classic response of the angry.

My point is that this outcome was inevitable once the club (or Ashton?) agreed to the visit.

It must have been known that they would manipulate things in this way. Was this not considered or discussed? That’s just naive!
Imagine the division now if we’d imploded and not gone up. I’ve said previously that Ashton is a lucky boy in this respect.

Now is the time to put pressure on the club to address this. I hear the argument that of 30,000 fans some will vote Reform but no party / movement should have been given the opportunity to use the club in such a divisive way.
