Worth a go if Millwall don’t go up? i quite liked the look of cooper at Portman Road and Azeez can put in a terrific cross.

Hasn't mcburnie got multiple offences to his name?

Must be something to it, as based purely on ability he'd have ended up at a bigger club than Hull.

considering we tried to sign him in jan dont you think km feels that he could play prem football

Yeh potentially, I'm not saying he can't. I just don't think this squad needs many more Championship all stars.

I would take Azeez if we signed another right winger, but if we went in to the Prem with our right wing options being Azeez and Mcateer I would be pretty demoralised.

Crama over Cooper, but while Azeez has had a great season, if we're looking for a right winger to play in the Premier League, I'd far prefer us to sign Fatawu from Leicester.

Absolutely.

Either they failed badly with their due diligence (I would imagine Man Utd would have been very keen to keep it quiet) or (much more likely) I think they thought they were giving a reformed character a second chance. Clearly it didn't work out like that and they sent him back fairly promptly after. If I remember, I think we did play him in a game where we were desperately short of options after the case came to light. Didn't we do the same with Szmodics too? It was known we were going to get rid (and some who were clearly in the know had said he would never play for the club again) and he still played a match for us before we did so.

We kinda did the same with Norwood too. I suppose as they are registered players if needed you play them. Sometimes just to increase the ability to get rid of them. Whos gonna want a player not playing etc.

None of this Millwall team would improve our squad significantly. We need better players than that to strengthen.

Azeez and Cooper on 22:20 - May 11 with 1154 viewsAlpineBlue

We built a Championship All-stars team last time and we were way off the pace. We need to be buying players from top leagues. They are at a completely different level of athleticism. I had the Spurs vs Leeds match on the TV and the Millwall vs. Hull match on my phone. The speed difference between the games and in the crispness of the passing was ridiculous. The only Championship player I can think of that is worth going for is Hackney, but I'd be underwhelmed even if we got him to be honest.

We need a couple of on the way out Premier League players, and players who have had a decent run in Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or Prinera Liga.

No, Azeez is good enough for Prem IMO. He carried this Millwall team and they'd have been nowhere near playoffs without him. Have you seen his goals & assists this season? He can cut in and shoot or skin his man down the line and cross. Truly two footed with pace. Gives KM choice to play him as a RW or right-10. He's 24, perfect age, and enough experience to be more than merely a long-term project. No Egeli v2.

Now we just need S'ton to beat Boro and we can look to scavenge Hackney too. Then it's two key positions improved ready for next season.

It's about getting the right "on the way out" Premier League players and identifying right ones who have never played in it too.

Think Ross Barkley and Xhaka vs Kalvin Phillips; the likes of Brobbey and Delap vs Cajuste.

Cooper is dreadful.
Caleb Taylor is their best defender.

Azeez and Negli are both very good attacking players.
Coburn has also been a good signing for them at 5m.

Yeh we need more like Kalvin Phillips and Ben Godfrey, right? Prem/top-league pedigree is just as hit-and-miss and you almost always overpay. Ben Johnson is another Prem superstar who wasn't even first choice for us in the Championship this season. The top players in the Championship are ready to step up, including Azeez.

You mention the crispness of the passing… I was watching the spurs v Leeds game, and was surprised just how often both teams were giving the ball away… I thought the passing was quite poor for large chunks of the game.

Crama is real one at Millwall if you want any.

Superb player.

Also a giant.

I thought Millwall’s big centre forward that stamped on O’Shea’s might be a useful addition, but showed nothing in the two play off games - bit like his team mates.

Azeez was very good for about 15 minutes, then disappeared. Not entirely his fault, his team mates must have forgot he was on the pitch in the 2nd half as they refused to pass to him. As for Cooper, I wouldn't touch him with someone elses barge pole, let alone my own!

He’s obviously had an unreal season but have to say he’s gone missing a bit in the games I’ve seen him in, notably against us, at home to Norwich and at Leicester (so obviously a very small sample). He also put it straight at Walton before they hit the bar, they may well have been up if had scored that chance. Same can be said about the missed header in injury time at Leicester.

Trouble is there will be a massive PL and English tax on him now and we have been burnt there before. I don’t think he’s a 25M player for example. If we can get him for Jack Clarke type money, then sure.

I am really starting to struggle reading these posts about trying to sign players that are not good enough for the Premier League. We need a new team of experienced high level footballers to stay up this time.

The only way we should sign these players is we are already down by end if January and we need a championship squad building.

We all know this, this is not new news.

Slightly weird post.

Crama is another who seems to be a decent enough championship player, but 'superb' would be massively overcooking it.
